Yes, I think I am going to the memorial on Sunday. There is no funeral just memorial at the kingdome hall and visiting after. I feel funny because we are always there for funerals only. I knew about her illness but didn't know it was this bad. No one at the hall has been talking to us since we didn't go to memorial for first time this year. I called one friend last night and talked her for long time. I have been very busy with family and other things so I just haven't had time to keep up with anyone there or here. I guess I see you there. My girls seen her boys here and there and they are always nice and friendly towards them. I haven't seen anyone there for while so I don't know what kind of treatment I would get. I wasn't going to go but changed the mind. We were pretty close and she was very supportive when I was going through tough times. I just feel bad that I wasn't there for her. I wanted to but her hubby is kinda mad at mine so we stayed away. A lot of bitter sweet moments between us over jw teachings. Her hubby was into witch hunting for while and mine was on his list to go after while back. We did not end it too friendly. Many things happen to between us so I wasn't sure I wanted to go but I think I will just show our condolence to boys. I like them and my kids and her kids grew up together. We had many good times and were pretty close before outbreak of hunting apostates in this area. Right now I am little frustated with all because of stupid silent rules or out right jw rules I wasn't able to go see her as I would have done. Guess, I will see you there.

I know you(not personally but from SM). We go to that church once in while. We were there last Sunday. My hubby grew up with SM and their fathers were friends. My hubby's brother is a director of music at that church. What a small "Wrold"!!!!!! He mentioned you (not names or anything personal) just when he was talking about cults and topics relating to it. We were wondering about who you are. We have to get together sometime. Very interesting. I will pm you.

2 what doctrines do you still believe in?

3 what doctrines have you stopped believing in?

1. Rejected most of jws main teachings on faithful discreet slave, going to service, turning in times, even on memorial,

2. Hell, and trinity

3. Faithful and discreet slave, door to door service, Jw is only true religion, no such thing as one true religion, jws are only one to survive

4. That all these religions are false religion. I think most of christian religions are branch off main teachings from first century and it is unavoidable that we have so many different religions now.

What Are Proofs That JWs REALLY Don't Believe Their Own Rhetoric?

jehovah's witnesses talk a big game but in reality they are filled with hot air.

they say a lot of things but don't always back it up.

for example, jws are told that meeting attendance is of paramount importance but the truth is anytime a meeting might be called off due to inclement weather, jws would anxiously wait by the phone from their elders saying the meetings were being canceled.. jws tell everyone that their preaching work is a "life-saving" work but the truth is they don't utilize the most effective modern ways of getting this "life-saving" message out.

We had an anointed one who only witnessed formally but never informally. Never heard of him talking about the Bible or teachings of society except when he was out for service. Used to think it was odd.

I thought this one was really crazy. PO in kh was giving a talk on putting kingdom interest first and was refering to older ones to become reg. pioneers and go preaching more since they have more time after retirement or whatever. But he was't out pioneeing instead he was selling his present house(nice home and just refinished whole house to sell) and building a brand new home out in the country in his family land. He never became reg. pioneer after the retirement, just aux. pioneered during memorial month.

What Religion Are You?

i know a lot of posters are not religious and others feel no need to attend a church.

but, for those that do attend somewhere, i was curious as to what type of church they chose after leaving the jws and what attracted them to that particular church or religion?

if you were not raised as a jw, did you return to the church you were raised in?

Disaffiliated christian but willing to attend certain churches for sake of socialization and to feel a part of community. Jw ruined me forever for any kind of organized religion. Tried few different ones but couldn't bring myself to listen to their teachings. But I am missing a feeling of belonging. Do you think it is better to belong to dysfunctional community than being all alone out there? One thing nice about being jw was that you have a sense of belonging even though it was only in superficial in most cases. But some were sincere. Well, only in jw terms. Sorry, if I am redirecting the topic. Just frustated with some of jw friend, who is still trying to convert me back to jw. She won't turn me in like a good little jw but constantly trying to change me back to jw.

Hi, choosing life----you know who I am talking about. She just won't let up. Makes me wonder about our friendship. I have been doing some serious thinking about our friendship. Spent all evening debating about society's teachings and I am still wrong and need to come back. This has been going too long. At least 4 years. Is it worth keep doing? When is time to let go?

Thanks guys for infor. We(my hubby and me) just heard about him last night and wanted to search more on his view. Not that I think he is right but wondering if it is worth doing research for future reference incase someone present his views to us. Think it is interesting how he discredited the secular information as coming from pagan when he is using secular calendars and infor to present his points. Wondering if he is still going to publish the second volume. Anyway, thanks for infor and nice to know I could rely on someone here.
