Bu2b, I know the stress is getting to you. But I should tell you the stress is getting to your wife as well. She may seem completely mind-numbed to you but I can tell you from personal experience that her chest is hurting too.
I knew my DH was not happy and very angry. I was busy trying to hold everything together and take care of two little girls. The Kingdom Hall was the one constant in my life. I knew what to expect there. Even when it didn't make me happy. I felt more at ease if my husband did not go with us. I didn't have to deal with all the vibes coming off him.
Once he stopped going at all and then DA, we just lived in separate planes for a bit but slowly I was able to make my own conclusions and make a decision myself to stop. You may be at that point. I can't say for sure it will work but the way you are going now is not working anymore and I know she feels it as much as you. Take the pressure off yourself. Get some space and do something to be less stressed. If you are more relaxed and seem happier it will take stress off her too.
Drinking won't help. My sister is stuck in that dynamic. I hope you get some help for that. God bless. Take care of yourself.

Commenting At The Meetings---Did You Enjoy It?
by minimus inwas that important for you?
most people, i believe, forced themselves to give an answer.
i knew many elders and servants over the years being counseled because they rarely answered.. funny thing....my mom who is 88 cries if she doesn't give a comment.

Yeah I enjoyed it- until I realized I wasn't supposed to go off script and answer something not in the literature. Then I gave up because I knew then I was not to be giving my own thoughts or making xonnections that they hadn't put in the study. Broke my heart, to be honest.
I have not been to a meeting since about 2006 or '07. I can relate to others who recall being passed over for comment. I knew they were avoiding me, and I knew it was because I wouldn't just repeat what was in the paragraph. I always taught my kids to "say it in their own words" and they were passed over too.

Virgin Birth Claim Disproves Biblical Inspiration
by AlanF inmany bible believers claim that the old testament contains over 300 so-called messianic prophecies.
however, a careful look at such claims shows that at least 80% of these have absolutely no connection with jesus, or with events beyond what the ancient writer was concerned with.. take, for example, the famous example of the supposed virgin birth of jesus.
this is based on the text of matthew 1:18-23 (nasb):18 now the birth of jesus christ was as follows: when his mother mary had been betrothed to joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the holy spirit.

Japanese Tea Ceremony
by jgnat inwhen pushed in a discussion this spring, about what i believe now, i likened spirituality to a japanese tea ceremony.
i believe a good part of our experience and knowing comes from a vast well of the inexpressible.
try and explain it with words is just not the same.

A Japanese Tea ceremony is practically performance art with the emphasis on form and ritualised movements. It must have been a lovely experience. Thank you for sharing. Were those your photos? I particularly liked the floral arrangement.

As a JW, What statements made you "stop thinking?"
by Faithful Witness inthought-stopping platitudes, like "we are in the last days!
"jehovah's witnesses are the only ones with the truth...".
what statements or claims did you use, or hear, that made you feel comforted by the fact that you were part of jehovah's organization?.

"People often wonder if deaf people can drive, get married, or raise a family."
by cedars ini've personally never wondered that, but apparently some people do.... (see 00:40 in the video below).

I watch videos like this and it causes me sadness because on the surface it makes a lot of sense and it should work to build happy families. But I spent years feeling like a failure because it never worked. I wondered often why, if I was trying as hard as I could, why it didn't work. My heart ached because our family was never that ideal family. When I got married it still didn't work. We never matched the stories or demonstrations. It's not real.
Since we left our family has healed and drawn closer. We have our problems and will need to improve but things are better. We are happier to attend church than the weekly guil lectures at the hall.

Bible Writers not just ignorant "goat herders"
by applehippie inreally, the bible was written by nothin' but goat herders?
i don't post much but this does irk me.
yes a few may have been shepherds or fisherman, but a fair amount were far more educated and were professionals in their fields of occupation.

Well, once again it has been shown to me that I should not even try- I am not a skilled debater. I'm a reader. I see over and over that anyone who says that believe the Bible (and there is certainly a lot of room in that statement) is tromped on and disrespected. But my point is still valid. I was specifically adressing the utter lack of credit and respect given to people in those ancient days; they were a lot more savvy than any of you want to think. History is amazing and fascinating and stranger sometimes than any fiction. But most people today would rather believe in pseudo science than scripture.
