I haven't read anything seriously for years. Mostly i write at the meetings or make little origami cranes out of time slips. Though i am studing the SI book with my wife for our "family study." I am hoping that it will afford me the chance to point out biblical errors. (must be sudtle with her. i like her and all..)

When did having children become the right thing to do?
by james_woods inpossibly someone else who was around in the 1975-1980 time frame will remember this:.
it seemed to be that prior to 1975, the message on children was "wait until the new system".
however, it seemed to me at the time that after 1975 there was a popularization of child bearing.

I know that now they look down on anyone that might consider vasectomy or other forms of permanant birth control, and there is much talk about, "Gods" original purpose for marriage and sex. (iE having kids and families.)

Give that "check" back to Watchtower!
by Atlantis inkingdom ministry/2/00/p.-7/.
on occasion the society issues a check to an individual, and the payee decides not to cash it, thinking that it will be viewed as a donation to the worldwide work.
please be advised that after a period of time, such checks are viewed as unclaimed property, and the funds have to be turned over to the state.

When i left bethel my account balance, (from the monthly allowance) was like 200$. At my exit interview i signed a slip of paper giving it to them as a contribution. I guess the person who checked me out didn't file it correctly because every month for the next 6 i got a letter asking what i would like to do with the balance. Being a procrastinator i left it alone until they stopped sending the letters. I wonder if i could claim it now....

non-information
by DannyBloem inwhat was/is one of the most annoying things for me at the meetings, was the amount of non-information that the watchtower gives.. it is like rading the entire wt or whatever book and all that they basically say is like: preach more, or whatever.. when you look at the (mirrors of) the quotes site, you see very few interesting quotes of the last 25 years or so.
just because they basically do not say anything at all.
do you feel the same way?

I like that quote... I always would complain to my parents that i was bored at meetings. And they would say something flip like, Only boring people get bored. To which i devloped the smart reply of, No, only people who are easliy entertained don't get bored..

Come now we all know that solomon's success and fall was due to his demon involvement. That's why he wrote the Lesser Key's of solomon... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lesser_Key_of_Solomon ;-P

I am a milieage victim!
by free2beme ini would love to have a vehicle that got 30 miles or more to the gallon.
unfortunetly i have to toe things, like a boat, and that requires a truck.
so i purchased a dodge truck, with a deisel engine, and i get a thrill out of 14-16 mpg.

I drive a VW TDI. It's a desiel engine and i get about 45mpg. I am considering switching to biodesiel, it's renewable and i could make it after some investment in materials. Also rumor has it that several commerical biodesiel pumps should be open in my area soon.

Even among some of the R&F it is a joke. When my family asks about what a meeting or watchtower was about we always reply "God's kingdom." or "Jehovah."

Are you paranoid about posting?
by wombat inpoor jwfacts got sprung when the jw trawlers were able to join the dots.. no, that's wrong - they knew it was him but it took something else for them to be able to prove it.. i am not game to post a bio about myself.
my jw siblings are very litigious.
one even sued another jw for libel.
