Rainy Days & Monday Mornings
by Outaservice inmost normal people i know and am around, look forward to the weekend and nice weather.
even though i have not been a publisher for several years now, i still associated weekends with taking the group out in service and baby sitting a lot of the kids from the hall, who the parents dropped off.
what a pleasure monday mornings were when i could go back to work.. also, nothing was greater than a stormy blizzard in the winter, or a thunderstorm (.

anyone notice the questions from readers in current study WT?
by ?me? inbasically it is the "porn" letter the boe's got a few months back, i do not have the time to break it down, but i think they left out a few things for the local rank and file.
maybe our researchers out there can break it down for us.
i do not think the line about how looking at porn is not a judical matter made it to the wt .

Someone in my old congregation had a JC, don't remember if he was publically or privately reproved, but a few months later they had a big local needs talk about viewing pornography on the internet, and then a bit about sleepovers and mutual masturbation, and then finally a bit about visiting gay clubs. Last bit was interesting, I have to say.

Radiohead... Pink Floyd... I remember buying "The Bends" and my mother being concerned because the guy on the front "looked weird" (a crash test dummy). I think that was about when I learned to buy stuff without them knowing, and then hide it. :)

I remember an elderly woman in a wheelchair... they had to carry her into the pool, I think she almost drowned. Not sure how old she was, but at least past 60.

Weird Dream
by Wordly Andre inmaybe a little influence from this website.
i had this really strange dream last night, that i wrote a letter to my parents old congregation that i last attended with them, well in my dream my letter was to let them know that i was never a jw, and that any records of me they have to shred or destroy.
i went to the hall and told some elder what i wanted to do, he asked me if i was baptized, i said no, but still wanted to do this, some other guy said "ok you will need to follow me", i walked down a long dark hallway and he opened two double doors to this big room that looked like a basement or bomb shelter, there were large tables in the middle of the room with papers and awakes and watchtowers all over them and a bunch of people who looked like half dead people you would see in scary movies just working away down there.

Now I have to wonder if the hall I went to had a basement like that... :)

I used to be nice to them... until they just kept getting pushy and the same people kept calling back. Now I just hang up :)

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this here... Forgive me, I've been lurking a while, but I'm still not sure of the rules... This is from the September Kingdom Ministry (got it via a chain of emails from friends):
Special Campaign October 16-November 12!
1. “The End of False Religion Is Near!” That is the titles of the Kingdom News No. 37, which will be distributed around the world beginning next month. During the first half of October, we will offer the Watchtower and Awake! magazines. Starting Monday, October 16th, through Sunday, November 12, we will engage in an intensive distribution of Kingdom News No. 37. On weekends during the campaign, we will offer it along with the current magazines.
2. Who Can Share: All who are actively publishing the good news will want to have a full share. Some will be able to auxiliary pioneer. Do you have children or Bible students who are making spiritual progress? Help them to approach the elders to see if they qualify as unbaptized publishers. Elders should take the initiative to speak with inactive publishers in order to encourage them to participate, perhaps, by working along with experienced publishers.
3. A supply of Kingdom News No.7 is being sent to all congregations so that publisher and pioneers can obtain at least 50 copies. Interested ones who are not yet publishers may receive five copies to distribute to family members and friends. All should keep track of the number they place and note this on the back of their field service reports at the end of October and November. The secretary will tabulate the totals for the congregation and report it to the branch office at the end of each month. Any copies of the Kingdom News that are remaining after the campaign concludes may be used in any feature of the ministry.
4. What to Say: Keep you presentation brief, as this will allow for a wider distribution of the message. You could say: “As a public service, I am sharing in an earth-wide distribution of this important message. This is your free copy. Please read it.” It may be advantageous not to carry a witnessing case to the doors. Be sure to keep a record of the interest found.
5. How to Cover Your Territory: Rather then distribution the Kingdom News in the street work, focus on covering as much of your house-to-house and business territory as much as possible. Keep track of not-at-homes, and try to return at a different time or day of the week. Beginning Monday November 6, a copy may be left at not-at-homes. However, if the congregation has more territory than can be covered during the allotted time, the elders may determine that the Kingdom News should be left at not-at-homes during the entire campaign.
6. The destruction of “Babylon the Great” is fast approaching. People need to get out of her before she is completely destroyed. (Rev. 14:8; 18:8) Make plans now to have a full share in this worldwide campaign to let all know that the end of false religion is near!
Maybe that last bit was what this person meant by "the end"? -

by Seeker4 in(i threw this into the "jw view of cloning" thread yesterday, and thought maybe a few would like to have some fun with it so i gave it its own thread.
there was this comment in a letter to the body of elders about clowning in march 2003:
"as to the matter of clowning, we can see from phil.

What bothers you more, snakes or spiders
by free2beme init is pretty common among us humans to have an issue with one of the big two.
we either have a discomfort with them, or just dislike them all together.
personally, i am not real against being around either, but if i had to choose which one i see in a more negative way, it would be spiders.

I'd have to say spiders bother me the most... can't stand them. Snakes don't really bother me that much--though maybe I'll change my mind once I see Snakes on a Plane. :)
