here's a gem:
my parents were trying to convince to speak to the elders because that's what they are there for, that's why jehoobah has placed them in their respective positions....
my reply:
but, i don't pray to the elders, i pray to god, so shouldn't this just stay between god and i?*
* now of course, i don't really pray to anyone, but i thought it made a good point.
ps. it didn't go over well with my parents.

my husband da-ed himself so i think don't think that would get them off my back. nope... there would probably be a "ding-dong" from mom and dad in my very very near future.

Revelation It's Grand Climax at Hand! - bookstudy
by TheListener ini was reading e-watchman today and someone there is saying that after studying the what does the bible really teach book at bookstudies the next book will be the revelation book!!!.
there isn't any real proof, but the poster claimed a letter from bethel stated this.
perhaps some here can dig around and confirm or deny this new rumor.. we've studied it 3 times in the past and it's been awhile.

it's funny, even now, after everything i've learned about the real "secret society", i have a hard time believing that they would d-eff me simply because i have doubts. but then again, you probably all had a hard time believing that your friends and family would really/actually shun and disown you when you left the truth. their whole misuse and elementary understanding unconditional love is baffling... and sad.

A visit
by A Paduan incouple of jws (guys) came to the door today, started saying "we believe the world is ending and changing soon" - and then plainly stated - "this brochure here explains how it is going to happen".
{i thought, "no, this is what you think will happen, but you just can't stop yourself from getting to the next step anyway - just can't speak properly without fitting some kind of lie into it"}
anyway, i rejected them outright, in as few words as came to mind (six, i think).

now that i know the flaws and lies of the org, i would love to slip something in to make them think. not sure what though... maybe something along the lines of "you may want to do some secular research into the dates that lead to 1914... you may realize that your 'end of the world" timing is a lil' off". Sign that god doesn't care about us. part II
by Calliope inwhen i first read about the disease called lesch nyhan, i was so terribly angry.
i thought, "how sick can satan really be to create such a horrible disease".
it is actually comforting to think that god doesn't care, 'cause he doesn't exist... if that's what you believe... .

Do you still pray?
by undercover in(helps to put something in the subject line .
it's that time once again for yours truly to try to channel minimus and ask a pertinent question sure to spark a lot of interest and debate amongst the ex-jw community.
the question: do you still pray?.

a sister, who doesn't know she's an apostate yet, asked a group of us what the deal was with prayer. she was feeling discouraged and disillusioned because some good ol' faithful single mom had a part at an assembly and explained that she had prayed long and hard about her situation and her wishes were granted so that her kids all grew up to be pioneers and elders and elderettes and vice principals of the secret society (yadda yadda yadda). meanwhile, the poor ol' single mom, living the same situation, thought she was praying hard enough... but nope.
*************************
however, on a side note, tonight while walking my dog and smoking a sweet cigarette, i prayed to the lone dying star with its waning light. twas nice.

I BELIEVE THIS IS AN OUT AND OUT LIE
by Gill inok. i've just read this in the march 2006 - i reckon its an out and out lie and i challenge anyone to find a school where this is happening.. this is in the young people ask section:.
'how can i say no to sex at school?'.
"every day, kids are talking about sex.
-
Calliope
it's probably true.
if we were allowed to sneak around drinking, smoking or doing pot back in my day, then likely, kids have moved on to other taboos... but that's no excuse for taking JW kids out of school. we have enough ill-equipped JW kids in society as it is.
