changes in how the society does their taxes. why?

i just got off the phone with my dad, who has some kind of responsibility in his kh, i forget all the terms now, but he does the accounting.

he's told me that they no longer have congregations doing their individual tax returns, but the society does it all now.

so i innocently asked what that means "like you don't tabulate the donations anymore, you send the info to the society, and they submit it to the government?".

answer: "yes".

so, what does that mean? my knowledge of business tax returns is very limited, so why would the society choose to do these themselves rather than have individuals from each congregation do it? does it mean they control what gets submitted? the government does not track donation receipts, so the society could be submitting falsefied tax info?

perhaps there is someone here who had been accountant for their congregation back in the day, that can shed some light on what could be behind such a move.

i hate cars.

they just cost money and eventually rust away.. however, given that it's pretty difficult to do anything without one in north america and that we now need another because angharad got a job (yay), does anyone have any good suggestions?.

what foreign language or languages do you enjoy most listening to, though you may not be able to understand the words?

i find several foreign languages pleasant to listen to, french with its refinement, italian with its sing song musical quality, and german with its coarse but resolute intonation.

i also like the sound of russian and castillian spanish.

where have all the tile-setters gone? anyone in construction in BC?

have you noticed, since leaving, that there's a whole network that's gone missing?.

where you could easily find a tile-setter, dry-waller, painter, house for sale/rent, job... while in the org., now these things are harder to come by?.

i just want to build a house!.

which life should i choose?

for someone who believes this life is the only life (no afterlife, heaven, resurrection, reincarnation...), should i move to be close to my family?.

even though i have left the org.

they still talk with me, visit, i vacation with them... we have always been a closeknit family.

i already know the answer... but there is this guilt that follows me because everyone else has chosen to be close (both wits and non-wits of the family) and i am the rogue, black sheep... :(

educ8self: seriously IS THERE REALLY A COMMUNE? because that's what i will be establishing in the country.

even though i have left the org. they still talk with me, visit, i vacation with them... we have always been a closeknit family. we phone each other daily. everyone lives in close proximity but me. should i make this life about family?

OR,

should i move further away, out to the country, and build a life for myself there (which is still 5000miles away from my family).
