My response to Dakota Red was simply to point out that to call any JW congregation "liberal" is plain silly since they are apolitical and morally Puritanical.

Bradley, obviously you never attended the congregation I did. Just because they don't vote in elections or run for political office does not mean they don't have the same mindset as others in their region. So much for "pure language," huh?

As far as what I am on, it is a drug called 'life.' You see, I wasn't raised a dub, didn't become one until my early 40's. So, I could see things within the halls many raised in it couldn't, since I had experienced much of it before hand. I experienced more life by my mid-twenties than most experience in a life time.

As for who said have we forgotten Nixon, no, we haven't forgotten him. Kindly explain what he has to do with today, since he was forced into resignation some 30 years ago? Every politician has skeletons. Too bad the mainstream media didn't dog the last administration as deeply as they did Nixon, they might have seen him for what he really was.

It's no secret that I am a conservative and support Bush. Election day is a long way off yet and anything can happen, although I deeply feel Bush is going to be reelected.

As for comparisons of exJWs, I think a lot depends on what region they live in and what sort of congregation they were in. We all know there is no such thing as "Pure language." Some congregations are heavily liberal and others are heavily conservative. One of the things thatd rove me away from the dubs was the heavy liberalism I was subjected to in my congregation. I had already rejected liberalism long ago as not for me.

I feel that many migrate to the opposite of what their congregations were, hence some become liberal, some become conservative. Neither political leaning has a lock on exJWs or anyone else.

Just my one and a half sense on it all.

For those saying "now, maybe we can go after Osama," let me say, the hunt for him has never stopped. The mountainous regions of Afghnanistan are riddled with caves making it very difficult to find him. But, the search has never been lessned. Just because we don't read about it in our media doesn't mean it isn't happening.

She strikes me as a classy woman who wears the badge of first lady with honor.

Actually, Stacy, while I agree with you, she doesn't like the title "first lady." There is an interview with her in this month's Readers Digest where she talks a lot about herself. Even without reading that, I see more class in her than Hillary could ever hope to fake.

Kudos to our military people on this capture. I also urge them to not drop their guard. However, for who said there may be further attacks, including chemical, how is that possible? Many right here have continually stated those chemical weapons don't exist.

Sorry all, but it looks like you just may have another 4 years of a good and decent President after all. I certainly hope so. Looks like his tax cuts did some good too, doesn't it?

Standing up for National Anthem / Judges

do others here feel that the prohibition about standing for the national anthem lacks any basis in logic whatsoever??

having been raised in the borg, this is one issue that i never understood.. the argument has always been that standing up indicated "worship" of the country, the same as saluting the flag (i'm not discussing the flag salute issue here, just the "standing" issue).. however, if you stand up when required for a person, i.e.

a judge in court, it is ok to stand because it is simply showing respect.

I see it as utterly ridiculous. At the same time, they say it is okay to stand for the pledge of allegiance at school, out of respect, to just not recite it. What is the difference if you stand for the National Anthem, and just don't sing it?

At the same time, they preach to not draw unnecessary attention to yourself, but isn't being the only ones not standing for the National Anthem at a sporting event doing just that?

It is not worship to show respect for any nations symbols. When I was in foreign nations, I showed respect for their nations and never lost any for my own. Truth be known, I may have more respect for other nations of people posting here than they have themselves and it doesn't impact my feelings about my own nation one little bit. Nor does it impact any belief I still may have towards God.

To me, that is one the most idiotic stands the JWs take.

well, this is no longer a rumor.

on the hannity & colmes show last night, foxnews, this 'rumor' was confirmed to be true.. the reason for the public silence (not told on the show) but by the rumor mill, is to keep hillary on a low profile, not to create a public stir.

As far as I'm concerned, it's up to them to mend fences with us, not us mend them with them. Maybe if they forgive the outstanding debt they hold against Iraq, helping a fledgling nation recover faster, they will see some lucrative contracts come their way.

If they expect the profits, they need to come on board.

On another note, I find it strange the UN is calling for more troops committed to Afghanistan to keep them secure. Maybe if they had banded together in the first place, their security would have been better today.
