  here he is beer smurf,i got him in 1984 in germany my summer of decission.i was 15 and started drinking hey it`s legal over there at this age.on this day i was drinking beer on the town street a cop walked by and smiled,i thought this is the life how could any religion promote a boring life.

  would you take blood?

  im confused would i take blood if i was about to die and had no other alternative treatment well to me thats allways been a hard one one to answer and people have allways hated witnesses for refusing it or not giving blood to there own kids.you see my mothers due in to hospital on tuesday and having a major operation the problem for her is she is inactive as a jw and has no blood card which is upto date what do you think she should do 1.phone elders 2.trust in jehovah and refuse blood.3if it comes to the worst take blood and live.

  "church hid abuse, victims say".

  it was covered over and the priests were moved around and promoted.

  Hey, don't forget, it took years and years to get the media to open it's eyes about the Catholic Church. Keep pressuring and keep supporting Bill Bowens Silentlambs. Sooner or later, they will see that the JWs are as corrupt as the Catholics and will start exposing them too.

  Personally, I feel these scum bags have hidden behind misguided scripture and religion too damn long!

  I'm angry and scared

  i've been out of the witnesses for a year...and in that span i've become more of a skeptic towards any sort of religion or god.

  i don't know if i will ever again have faith in a supernatural, all loving and powerful being.

  i suppose this is because the only god i really know anymore is jehovah of the watchtower- who to me is nothing more than a jealous, angry and vindictive creature.

  One thing I have discovered outside of the WT is that you don't really need religion. God never declared any religion, other than the Jews, as his chosen. And, he wrote them off, did he not? Don't be afraid of the Bible, but do yourself a favor and read other translations. Compare them and seek what it really says, not what someone else says it does.

  As far as getting old, not to worry. We all go through that. I'm at 53 and find that it is less fearful as I get older. Besides, nothing we do can stop it. My Dad died when he was 54, so that could be controlling me right now.

  I still don't buy a literal burning hell. I see that as scare tactic of religion to control the masses. Of course, I hope the resurrection is true. I would like to live again, in a decent earth. But, if it doesn't happen, then what is the difference?

  I guess what I am trying say is not to worry. Worry is a useless emotion. All it does is eat you up inside. Instead of worry, show concern and act on what bothers you. Instead of throwing out questions you can't get answered, write them down and seek answers. Seek in the Bible, books, other trusted people, whatever. But, seek the answers. Accept what you believe to be true and ignore the rest.

  Just remember, the only stupid question is one you have and won't ask. Post some here if you like and see what answers you get. Then, as I said above, listen to the ones that make sense and ignore the rest.

  But remember, most answers are nothing more than opinions. We all have them and will gladly share.

  Good advice but too late. The US should have threatened the Soviets back in the early 50's. They should have said that if they test a nulcear weapon they would immediately test one on them. The nuclear genie is out of the bottle. It will explode here.

  Actually, they should have listened to Patton after the fall of Berlin. He wanted to rearm the Germans and open a can of whoop-ass on Moscow then.

  This is something that should be left between a patient and their doctor, no one else. I always had a big problem denying a transfusion on a scriptural basis, but did do some research into blood. There are in fact, certain circumstances where refusing blood could beneficial, but from a medical standpoint, not a scriptural one.

  However, we need to remember that although doctors are human, they have a lot more education than the old guys at the Watchtower.

  In answer to your question, if it was the only thing that could save my life, then yes, I would accept it, unhesitatingly. But, if it were some procedure that was not necessarily life threatening, I would wish to discuss that further with my doctor, no one else.

  Since my wife is a dub, I do not want her involved in medical decisions, should I be incapacitated. I trust my daughters judgment, there. A non-JW. Of course, I have discussed this with her numerous times and and let her know my feelings. The wife, of course, would deny blood for any reason. My daughter, would make a more informed decision, based on my feelings, not the Watchtowers.

  df vs disassociation

  can someone provide me some insight or past experience with the pros and cons to disassociating oneself versus getting disfellowshipped?

  besides the obvious of not having to deal with the lynch squad.

  I DA'd myself. Got tired of them using my being known as a JW to harrass me. Even inactive for 5 years, they can still use your being known as a dub for leverage. Still, regardless of how it is done, you are scum from then on and lower than whale shit on the ocean floor, to them. They are taught to begin hating you.

  In my case, they can shun me and hate me all they want. When I was a JW, they didn't have time for me then, either, so what is the difference? However, I will not tolerate them coming into my home and pulling their hateful crap. The wife and her brats are still dubs and if their "friends" can't be cordial and say a friendly greeting to me, I tell them to get the hell out and stay out.

  I have been known to deliberately walk into the room just to annoy them with my presence and when they sun me, I tell them about the notice I placed on the front door about being cordial and bring the last sentnece to their attention. That being that if they cannot offer a cordial greeting to all in the house, then feel free to get the hell off the property!

  As you can see, they are instructed to react the same, regardless of how your leaving is accomplished. The only difference is how you feel about it yourself. To me, when I DA'd myself, in effect, I Disfellowshipped the entire Watchtower Society!

  Was Solomon apostate ?

  it occurred to me that solomon wrote at least 2 books of the bible and part of proverbs.according to jws (and bible) he later became "bad" and lost jehovah's favour.as far as we know the situation remained that way ; i.e.

  he didn't repent and return to jah like other bible writers ( david etc ) .

  so why were his writings allowed as part of the bible ?

  Maybe the Watchtower views it as Good Apostates and Bad Apostates. From their "Insight" book, we find:

  Evidently his proverbs were uttered, and the books of Ecclesiastes and The Song of Solomon, as well as at least one of the Psalms (Ps 127), were written during his period of faithful service to God.

  What I see is that what good you did, defined as what the Watchtower liked or what furthers their cause, is good and acceptable. But, since you leave off being a Christian, defined as no longer staying with the Watchtower, then all those "good deeds" are useful only to be used to mislead others into submitting their lives to the cult. You, on the other hand, still rot in the grave, deservedly by their reckoning, with no chance at ressurrection.

  Boy, I'm sure glad that matters will be left in God's hands and not theirs!

  i found this site by accident a couple of weeks ago -- i did not go looking for it, and felt no need for it..... reading the posts, was like entering an old house that i once lived in and was now abandoned -- the issues being discussed were like the furniture of the old house -- covered in dust and the crap of the ages.... but, as i stayed and read on and saw the pain that so many have, i started to think about the process that led us all here.. and my thoughts crystallised -- .

  i thought that i 'had' a good life as a witness -- yes i saw many things that i could question, but i accepted that old consolation that is offered when you have doubts - just wait on the lord brother - he will make all things clear in time...!!!.

  you know it's really strange that that expression is used so many times -- it leads me to think that so many must have doubts - even if unexpressed!

  How many claim they obey God and not the org? How many say that org doesn't give out specific instructions? The following quote should open a few eyes, I hope!
