In the seventies and eighties , there were big noticeboards at assemblies where people would pin messages. There were always several "I'd like to meet a 30-35 sister - I'll be here at 3:30pm" type messages so you could go down and check out the talent at the appointed time. I know of several meetings that ended in marriages from these messages.

WT about Greed and Money?
by Think inmillions of people from personal experience believe that from the beginning this is all about greed and money.
especialy when they claim that no colections are taken, but they lately constantly beg for more money, bank accounts, insurances, real estates, stocks, houses and so on.
can be that this is the real truth?

"So don't try to come on this board with your ridiculous ideas that preaching and charity work are the same thing, because they're NOT. "
Huh? One of your fellow posters was commending the Gideons for their charitable work in placing bibles in hotels. How much other charitable work do they do? And why should we expect that they should?
As you know , the apostles' primary work was preaching , rather than feeding the widows. Would you condemn Jesus for focusing primarily on preaching? - he had what many today would regard as a dismissive attitude toward charitable works.

Although I'm a (fairly) loyal JW , I reckon that these dating sites shouldn't be discouraged. After all , they are just an electronic extension of the old boards at District Conventions. Remember them , anyone? The society need to embrace the internet rather than demonise it.I feel sorry for some of the late twenty/thirty something sisters - there are some terrific ladies out there who can't find someone simply because of the demographics. Having said that - " Thirtysomething-wild-eyed-fidgety-career-pioneer-oh-I'm-not-bitter-don't-touch-me-there-last-eligible-sister-nobody-talks-to-anymore?" - there are a few of these around - sounds like my first girlfriend! She was so hung-up , she would even hold hands with me unless she was wearing gloves!

"The fact that they do no charity work despite the billions that they are worth proves everything about their greed and unchristian nature. " Sorry - noticed this ludicrous comment. 1... JWs are set-up to preach about the bible - that is their charitable objective , to witness about Jehovah. They are a religious charity. Does the butcher sell bread? Does a financial adviser give diet advice? 2... Worth billions? I assume you mean in real estate - these buildings are used to house printeries and for accommodation purposes. Don't confuse capital assets with income.

I've been associated with JWs for 40 years and have done much research on this , as it is a particular interest of mine. My conclusion is that , if anything , the WT society are actually quite inadequate when it comes to financial matters and , unlike most other religions , rarely ask for funds. I'm an accountant and have done audits of society projects - it frustrates me sometimes. I've never seen a case of embezzlement and the GB live in rather plain apartments.
In the UK , the Gift Aid penetration is about 25% - other religions and charities are at 70% +.
Watch any "Christian TV" broadcast to see the other side of the coin.

MY LITTLE GIRLS HEART PROBLEM
by chuckyy ini am very angry at this time.. i took my 7 yr old little girl to the hospital yesterday....she has had heart problems since birth.
i explained that we were no longer jw,s and would accept blood if necessary during open heart surgery.
the doctor told me that if that was the case, the operation must proceed without delay.

Hi - hope all goes well with the operation.
"However, I think the doctors were negligent for not properly explaining all the options to you and the rationale for delaying the surgery before. If it had been a blood issue, not a developmental issue, they should have explained that to you years ago so dont blame yourselves."
I agree with previous posters - if this was the case (which I doubt) then you should have been informed.

What is your rating?
by billyboy inas a bit of a newbie , i'm interested as to the overall viewpoint of site users and spectrum of views.. using a crude gauge , where 1 = completely convinced "stepford"jw ("jhs organisation is wonderful etc") and 10 is a completely rabid "tear down the tower" apostate/ex-witness pathalogically hating the whole jw structure , where do you fit in?
(apolgies to both groups - no offense intended).. i'm about 2.5 - somewhat disillusioned , keen for reforms in certain areas but broadly accepts the teachings and loves the lifestyle.
would never leave.

Many Questions
by urstruly inhi i'm new to this forum.
i've looked at other websites to and i see all this about the jw's, now i'm not one, i was raised a jw but made my own decision and my parents respected that.
i've read so many horror stories, but my life wasn't like that at all, as a matter of fact, when they first knocked on our door and my mother accepted a study our life changed for ever, it was for the best in many ways.

The problem with sites like this is that they portray a picture of JWs which is impossible to reconcile with what witnesses (and many outsiders) know to be the case.
The impression that is given is of an organisation riddled with child abusers , of dumb "dubs" of minimal education dominated by power hungry , uncaring elders and a corrupt , shadowy elite Governing body.
You (and I) know that this isn't the case.

JWs knock on my door three times in one week
by Sirona inmy husband is off work at the moment recovering from a double hernia operation.
the jws knocked one day and our friend, who was here doing a bit of painting for us, answered the door and simply told them he wasn't the householder.. then at the weekend, early on a saturday morning, they knocked again.
i was in my nightclothes and had only just gotten up, or i would have answered.

" There are NO accidents in witness land.
They are looking for something. If I were you, I would avoid answering your door for awhile. Remember, in their eyes, agreeing to meet with them is the same as saying to them that you consider yourself a part of the organization and all of the disciplinary bs that goes along with it. "
Talk about paranoia! They are simply diligently following up on not homes - the initial call (when the person said he wasn't the householder) would have meant that the house was recordered as a NH & on the second occasion you didn't answer the door.
I don't know how many times the congregation will re-work the not-homes - I suspect that you may have one more attempted call.
Be honest - if Jehovah's witneses are not for you any longer , tell the publishers. JWs don't disfellowship anyone who no longer associates - what would be the point?

My reply (oops - doesn't exactly follow the JWD line!)
Hi Jamie - enjoyed your report on 13th Jan about work done by Jehovah's witnesses. I live in the UK and am impressed by the work done (I'm an active JW).
Ironically , you'll probaly get more emails criticising the work than commending it - ex-JWs are very active online and are keen to negatively portray our work. There are a few message boards asking members to write to you eg http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/105755/1.ashx
Don't let these embittered individuals put you off - its great to read good news sometimes!
All the best
