I, too, have read The End of Faith, and I highly recommend it (though I agree it does bog down somewhat towards the end). I also agree with Mr. Harris that religious faith is to blame for most if not all of the problems in the world today. Unless we give up our faith and replace it with reason, we are doomed. In other words (mine not Mr. Harris'), we are doomed.

Being raised a JW in the 70's, it's a wonder I can even tie my shoes, much less make a living. But I left in the mid 80's and was able to get an Associate's degree in IT and have been making a decent living ever since. Currently working on a BA.

For NICE PEOPLE only!
by BlessedStar init seems as though many people come to this board and leave in a short space of time.. it's a pity.. there are people on this board who are very nice and polite even when discussing various views.
this leads to understanding and concern.
i would like to meet you people.. please post in here.. i term nice as being kind, not cursing, love for god almighty, thrives on the right things in life, not hurting other's feelings, etc.. blessed star

Nice or not nice? My grandfather used to say, "Everything is the opposite of what it appears, except for those things that are the opposite of the opposite of what they appear."
He also said, "You can't judge a girl with her clothes on."
Smart man.

What has hurt you the most for being a JW?
by MsMcDucket in.
or what do you regret most about being a jw?.
for me it's being alienated by my twin daughters.

Having all my child-like enthusiasm and ambition sucked out of me at a very tender age and replaced by a relentless sense of misanthropy. Imagine you're five years old and your mom is reading to you and showing you the illustrations on pages 208 and 209 of From Paradise Lost to Paradise Restored. Not a recipe for growing up normal.
