wearing faded jeans only as a bethelite is a cause for concern for the governing body.
i had jeans that were not totally faded as the "world" would consider them.
so one freaken' weekend as i passed by a wt building, a tightwod bethel elder (now just an elder) asked me how i was doing (bla bla bla).
Well, long time ago a MS told me, as I was arriving to the meeting and he was shaking my hand.
Don't you think the opening on your skirt is too long?
I respondend; Yes, thank you!!!! (actually it wasn't, it was one ot those long skirts with a long opening but it wasn't showing more than normal)
next Sunday I wore the same skirt to the meeting just to make my point accross that I was not going to do anything that he said.
He never approched me with any other suggestion.
i recently went to mexico for vacation and my sister in law told me that they were constructing a new kh.. i questioned her on how was it done, and this is what she told me:.
they saved the money for long time, then they sent the money to the wt.. wt then bought the land and the materials (but everyting is under wt name).
all brothers and sisters will work for free.. after everything is completed they still have to pay a "suggested contribution" to the wt for the use of the kh.. i think the law in mexico recently changed and now the wt can own property that is why they are pretty active building kh's.
Yes, greendawn. The locals saved all the money but everything is going to be under WT name.
Apparently all congregations were sending the money to the WT and waiting for their turn to have their KH built. But the WT started spending the money first in the richest areas and building better KH's
Suddenly all the materials cost went up and now they are building more modest halls.
About the "suggested contribution" I'm assuming is going to be at market price.
---------------------------------
I don't think the mexican brothers will revolt, the blindly believe all what the WT said.

She was a little bit upset because she said that WT spent more money on the KH's for rich areas and for them it was going to be a modest KH.
When I was living there, WT never built any Halls even thought they were allowed, the only thing was that it would be "federal property".
I just wanted to share this with you guys.
i just looked at my avatar after i made my 500th post here and realized that i have officially signed up on this forum 3 1/2 yrs ago but was lurking for several months prior to that.
now 500 posts isnt that much for over 3 yrs and i am still a jw in "good" standing while so many of you have come here, left, and moved on already.
so how long did it take you to leave after coming here?
In my case I made my decision to stop attending meetings and going on fs in Dec 05 (after 25 years in the cong) . Just because I felt inside of me that something "was not right with this picture".
I started reading old magazines about the 1914 generation and some other issues that were bothering me and I decided that I couldn't in good concience keep preaching something that I don't belived in.
It was like 2 weeks after I stopped attending meetings that I dared to look at this websites and I was amazed on how many people were going to the same emotions that I was feeling.
So far is been kind of easy because I don't have immediate family inside.
I have received only one attempt of a visit from an elder and five or six phone calls from friends.
You will know when is your time, and when that time comes, there will be no turning back and you will have the courage to confront the consecuences.
Did you notice that Ezra is back?
Now the question is Where is PMJ?
.
i'd be interested in hearing your experiences, if you were newly inactive and felt pressured to go to the memorial.
did the jw's pressure you to go or did you feel guilty for missing the lord's evening meal (well, we all miss it anyway when we pass it round)
I have been recently inactive, just about two months so I figured that I'm going to feel pressured to go. And I might go, but to a different congregation.
I feel pressured not out of guilt but because some of my close friends are still thinking that this is only a termporaly stage on my life. They think I'm just tired.
reading a previous thread where people mentioned the crazy people in their hall and what they would do during the meetings, i figured it needed a thread all to itself.
so what did the mentally ill or generally crazy people do during your meetings?
i don't have any good ones.
One girl (16 or 17 years old ) always wanted to kiss the brothers.
One guy in the DC's always sang the songs preety loud and rise his hands up (like the ones you see at the back of the music book)
another one was always going to the seats and started shaking hands and if his parents try to scold him he would yell at them preety hard.
Yea, it feels so good to be recognized. Specially when I wasn't expecting it.
I never work thinking about any bonuses, I always try to do my job the best possible because that is the right thing to do.
No plans yet, but maybe I'll save the money for a brand new car later on the year.
Lets all have a virtual drink!!!!!
(can sombody tell me how to use the emotiocons?)
Donate to the wt? No way!!!!
I'm just following wt teachings/ God doesn't need our money.
