What would you say is the main reason why people didn't listen to us?
by JH inwhen i started going out door to door, i was sure i'd bring a couple of people with me to the org.
i knew my parents believed in god and the bible, so i was sure i'd be able to convince them with a few simple verses that we had the truth.
but no, they didn't seem convinced enough to want to study.

Hi JH, I know what you mean about the bible verses. I used to think I would be able to convince people it was the truth with a few titbits. Once I told my dad the whole story from Eden to Armageddon (obviously with huge chunks missing) absolutley certain that no-one could disregard it if they actually listened. He did listen and then patted me on the head and said "what a lovely story".
Once I was watching an Indiana Jones film with Sean Connery as his dad, I can't remember what its called now. That bit in it when he says that God's name is Jehovah made me all smug and I thought "that'll get em thinking" (I watched it with hubby and bro in law). What a donut.

Hi Star Moore, I found out that the original Bible Students that didn't follow Rutherford and become witnesses are still active to this day. They also believe in Charles Russell as being chosen as slave. I think their website is www.biblestudents.net
I feel a bit fed-up with viewing other humans as something special or chosen somehow. I feel a bit guilty about that sometimes as what do I know?, maybe there are special humans that will go to heaven or are slaves that have a purpose.
I think I am bitter as I treated elders, co's and annointed ones with a fearful respect and let them treat me and watch as they treat others with disdain. Then when I find out the truth, they are just normal, sinful, individuals just like myself but much ruder. lol
Sometimes I would wonder about the annointed ones. If there is about 6 billion people on the earth, thats just at this time now, what about all the time that could have past already. I wonder how many people have ever existed. So what kind of person would you have to be to be one of 144k? Pretty bloody special I guess.

Thank God no one listened
by I quit! ini came it to the watchtower in the early seventies.
while my friends were going to college i was out selling watchtowers.
for some reason while cleaning the garage this morning i was thinking about this and thinking of the doctor i used to go to back then.

Hi I quit, you're right. If everyone listened or not even everyone, just those destined for those kind of jobs, then we'd be left with no doctors, dentists, lawyers, vets, policemen, etc. I guess if that did happen then the society would have to allow such careers. The witnesses would soon complain if they were ill with no teeth and got burgled every week lol. I know it would never happen but a good point you've made.

So how do you keep your clothes hangers tidy?
by ozziepost inok, fluffy time!.
mrs ozzie and i are just back home and so there's plenty of laundry to do - that's my job, and i quite enjoy it, but there's one thing that spoils it for me and that's the clothes hangars!.
you know how it goes, some hangars for pants, some for skirts, some for shirts, and then some are plastic, some are steel and some are those confounded wire hangars you get from the dry cleaners.. they're always getting tangled up; it doesn't matter how well i stack them (i've got a basket for them), when i get out in the yard to hang out the clothes, there's always one, it only takes one!

DO YOU STILL HAVE PERSONAL INTEGRITY?
by juni infor most all of us here we have had association with the jehovah's witnesses in some way or another.
there are many man-made "rules" within the organization.
that fact we all agree on.

Thats one of the things that would insult me so much about the jw's. Their assumption that you would have no morals if you weren't part of a religious org.
I always had a very honest relationship with my husband. During a conversation with my study conductor and her husband, I had bought up something that I had told him.
My SO turned round to her husband and said, "yes, see I've always told her to be honest with him".
I'm so gutted I let it go and let her bask in the glory of being a good teacher. She knew me a couple of months and I had been with hubby for years and we have always been honest and open. It was like she was implying that if it weren't for her I would have been lying and keeping secrets.
So yes, I do have my morals that I stick to just because I want to and not because some idiot told me to.

Ozzie, It concerns me when you say that you drip dry your clothing as I would fear the garments being weighed down with the excess water which may result in pulling the garment out of shape.

Why would you enjoy wearing something that makes you look like Harry Potter or an old woman?
