  uncle bruce,you didnt mention that the watchtower society does not sell for profit.i remember going to a catholic church and right in the lobby they sold items for worship.you had to buy your rosary.......i have never bought the bible aids and bibles that i own,and never was asked to pay for them.your father owned the things you are describing to us why do you think you have the right to tell him what to do with these things.people make contributions to charities and museums and scholarship funds with what they owned in life,why should this be viewed as any different.and the money that is used in the headquarters in new york is my money and others money that we contributed.we understand that these financial contributions are neccessary to keep producing literature and to build kingdom halls and to further the preaching work.when china took over hong kong they needed a tool that was readily available in both chinese and the hong kong language and they requested that the watchtower send my book of bible stories so they could teach each other the two languages .not only do we benefit from making donations but others that are not even of our faith benefit by our efforts.if you really want to look at misuse of funds and outright ownership of literal businesses look at the churches of christendom,how about the catholic church closing churches and having in their possession in the vatican jewels that are priceless ,how do you work it so that the society is the bad guys,i dont get your reasoning

  attending the meetings is a command.the reason that a brother has to attend all meetings with the exception of illness and emergencies is that in order to qualify you must have exemplary conduct.without reproach.so if a brother was appointed to be a ministerial servant and was not attending meetings then others would say why should we have to go.the meetings were put in place as a protection for us.one of the reasons christendom has lost credibility is the fact that they dont even adhere to their manmade doctrines.if you cant be true to your faith then how would others recognize that tyour faith represented true worship.jehovah has always had guidelines this is not something new.as far as the brother quitting his job and finding other employment that let him attend the meetings ,look if some man in the secular world reaches out for a secular goal and makes sacrifices for it and attains that goal well people just fall all over that person,tell him hes great ,good for you,but why is reaching out for a spiritual goal and making sacrifices looked at in a negative way?its the same scenerio.the longterm sand short term benefits are better.what seems to be the problem.the man had a family he was required to provide for his family and he is required whether he is a ministerial servant or not to attend meetings by god.when you post these things you make it sound like a hardship.maybe it was for you,but those brothers that only can make one meeting stiil havent given up they are still trying

  looking for a scripture

  i thought i read a scripture that made reference to the idea that reaching out for "overseer" type privileges is nor for every brother.

  i can't remember how it was worded.

  maybe it was a dream, but if it exists and anyone can find it, i;d sure appreciate it.

  you never said why you were disgruntled.i always thought since i was in nursery school that something was definitely wrong with the way people behaved.i always believed since i was a child that death was wrong.then i got a bible study and realized that i was right all along and the life we are living was not meant to be like this.it also bothered me why we would sacrifice our own kind for the sake of money ,power,and fame .how could individuals in our kind sell us out.i got all my answers.my education is ongoing did you ever read the publication along with your bible is there a creator who cares about us.it discusses the complexity of life so in detail some of us felt we had to go to college to get it all but the point is the skeptics kept asking us at the doors about technical information and if you had read the publication and checked where the society got its references you would realize that what we see and know is not an accident.survival is tough whether your in the truth or not .the demons and satan realize their party is over and they are going to get really viscious and it is not going to be easy for anyone.remember the scripture where it said money would be thrown out into the street,have no value,another one ppoints out some would have luxuries of life where others would die because of lack.you really dont think leaving the truth is going to make your life easier.when you got baptized you took jehovahs side .satan really ,really,did not like that and satan plans things out .do you really think that hes not going to put pressure on you because you left.you can count on him putting pressure on you .the minute you responded to the truth you mad him angry.he takes delight in persecuting those that have left the truth .just because you left doesnt mean that bulls eye was removed in his eyes.and please dont htink i am judging you ,but youve been away long enough for the worlds bitterness to fill you.

  i had the same feeling.youre expecting at the very least disfellowshipped ones seeking association but all you find are those that do intense bible research and are looking for answers,disfellowshipped and unhappy with the organization,or apostates.the point is they are not jehovahs witnesses .jehovahs witnesses do not slam jehovah god or the organization he is guiding.they hate us and him.simple as that.

  my family mentioned that there is no reason to read older publications when new ones are available,.

  it got me thinking, as the 1914 generation is all but gone, what about the rutherford witnesses, how many are still around that were witnesses when rutherford was king, he died in 1942, that would make the youngest 64, as a baby, providing they were a witness, and at the time there was probaly only 300,000 - 500,000 witnesses max.. with no one around do jw's simply just disregard his beliefs ??

  ?, will the same happen with franz's beliefs in 30 or 40 years ?.

  there are still in the area of 8000 annointed on earth today and if you recall there was a convention a few years back that answered your question.they are now currently training qualified ones to step in their shoes.you have to remember that its jehovahs holy spirit that guides the organization not the brothers.you also know that the bible says that jehovah would step in [armegeddon]for the sake of his annointed ones so there will be some left at the time of the end.i will tell you what the older publications are good for .a brother once gave me a ton of watchtowers from the 50's,60's and they were very powerful,they did not mince words especially when they dealt with christendom,you actually had the feeling that you should duck while jehovah was pronouncing judgement upon them,its like you were there.very good reading

  i'll look into this and see if i can find a local angle--we need someone in the greater sacramento area who has a personal stake in this to make a story work.

  why dont you contact the local kingdom hall in your area and they might link you up with the hospital liason committee .those are the brothers that speak to doctors to help them provide non-blood methods .we had a topic of discussion of blood issue in the kingdom hall last night and it might be important that you also include in your dialogue about how many people who are not jehovah's witnesses refuse blood transfusions and why
