I was'nt trying to change the topic of the thread , it just seemed there is another issue of life here related to the refusal of blood. I'm glad you picked up on my thinking ,if they value life so much and yet will throw it away for the interpretations of a few old men ,why then would they get IVF done knowing they may be called on to end the life of fertilized embryos?

it is titled (when freely translated) "how coming of the christ affects you?".
in the first article there is not speaking about 1914 or invisible presence.
There you go - if they divide the two comings far enough apart in time it's easier to fade the first (1914) coming. HEATHEN said it, they can't get rid of it but they can focus now on the future coming so the 1914 issue becomes a distant curiosity.

I'm a bit puzzled by this story ,here we have JW's having invitro fertilization because they love to have babies ,and say they love the babies ,and yet are willing to let them die after so much trouble giving them life.!
And then I recall that the parents donated eggs and sperm and some of these fertilized eggs are frozen for future injection later if the first fertilized eggs fail. But on having multiple births they can then say we don't want anymore children ....so.....what then happens to the remainining fertilized eggs left over? ...they say the fertilized eggs are potetial human beings so they cannot kill the eggs off but they can let the preemie foetuses die from lack of blood.
I always thought true JW's could not invitro because of the dilemna of possibly having to kill the unwanted fertilized eggs ,or that they may be used in another womans womb?

do you feel any additional bitterness from the brother or sister that gave you a bible study and expected you to remain a good jw.. althought i'm not df'd, the one that gave me a bible study that led to my baptism never calls, or comes over, although he is an elder today.. i feel plenty of bitterness from his part..
I WAS CLOSE TO MY ELDER STUDY CONDUCTOR FOR YAEARS UNTIL MY WIFE AND I GOT MARRIED
We decided on an outside wedding by a civil celebrant and he called to demand why. When I quoted from a watchtower that encouraged simple weddings ,and it said it was not a religious event anyway he went balastic - no humility ,fancy telling my teacher that he should read up!
We did'nt want a KH wedding for we felt it was too much like a church wedding and we felt we were closer to god in a natural nature environment and of course then no elder would come to marry us , so we had to have a civil celebrant. He and his wife would not come and we still had a beautiful wedding despite their absence and the prescence of my wifes dead head family.
garybuss said not one single thing they told him about in his younger years (since the 50's) came true.
it made me think....does anyone know of anything they said that was/is right?????

There you have it, if you asked a Witness which coming is this you might get a perplexed look when you further ask " I thought Jesus came in 1914?" for I doubt they would have thought that one out much. All primed for new light
I get my mags from a pioneer sister who knows my wife is DA'd and still talks to her ,when I bring up points to her about the wrong things in the org she puts her head in the sand still though .....if the WTS change the 1914 teaching or water it down she'll be there saying "look how good the GB treat us with these gems of light"

BLONDIE pointed initially to 3 times the WTS says Jesus "comes"
Well in another of her subsequent posts she points to a 4th time he "comes" - in1918 as the bringer of the covenant. So there are at least 4 occasions the WTS says Jesus "comes" , but I think the point missed here is the fact that the rank and file witnesses have always had the "PAROUSIA" ,or prescence of Jesus at 1914 in mind when the WTS talks in their literature of Jesus's COMING. I believe that is because of intense focusing of the 1914 year as the most significant.
The other comings are mentioned in a cursory way ,and because of all the data fed to witnesses they filter out the other comings and just think of the big one ,that is 1914.
So then as others have mentioned recently there has been a depleting of attention on this 1914 date for some time now ,with Watchtowers focusing on day to day things like keeping spiritually and physically clean issues ,so there is a desensitizing on heavy study articles and the focus has softened.
Blondie is right but the WTS has all these other "comings" as a way out of 1914 to the dumber R & F of today ,who could easily accept now a heavier focus on the Armaggeddon COMING.
They blur issues by having lots of anti types ,typical scenarios , comings etc so they give themselves scope for changing or refocusing their teachings. I always had trouble trying to keep up with all these different ways of explaining things and I think most witnesses just answer from the paragraphs the safe way, which makes them easy targets for change of "light"!

I remember working on one of the quick builds duplexes in the eightees with the media in attendance and all the PR work going on - then we ran out of bricks so they decided to conceal this by leaving out a large section of wall out the back where nobody would notice - not! This was on top of a section that had been pulled down earlier because the bricks were laid poorly!
