"Kingdom Hall Quickbuilds are only possible with God's Holy Spirit"
by under_believer inthis is what you hear every time there's a part on the kingdom hall construction program.
they're only possible because god's holy spirit blesses the work.
otherwise, what is accomplished would be physically impossible.

I'm busting to say something here!
My father-in-law was brought to his elders for molestation over twelve years ago ....naturally pleaded innocent....and in the meantime the elders let him do building work on his hall in that time!! Where's the holy spirit here! Same elders there who naturally keep it secret that he is a scum pedophile.
Also years ago a local elder "donated" land for the local KH and was involved in it's building ,turns out he molested his daughter too !!
I don't swear usually but this hypocrisy and spiritual blindness gives me the shits, and I hate the orgs guts.

It's a funny world is'nt it , when on one hand this guy shows the world some amazing animals and how he handles them all the time even when they probably don't want it ,and yet here in Australia the other conservationist people are banned from getting within too many metres of whales in our oceans for fear of upsetting them! Whose got the right values?
It's sad to hear of anyone dying such a death ,but maybe it's a good time to reflect on how the world views everything on this planet.

Aussies/Canadians of JWD most laid back~
by FlyingHighNow ini was thinking today, i've been here at jwd for nearly three years now.
i've observed that our aussie members are the most laid back members on the board here.they don't take their country, their politics or anything too seriously really.
people who are from europe tend to be more laid back than the brits and americans.

We're so laid baaaack here that our Prime minister can't find the motivation or energy to pull his head out of Bush's arse!
But my daughter in law is American and she's pretty laid back and she loves it here. I guess the intensity of life in some states and cities in America must have driven people to different thinking and outlook .
I sometimes watch the US cop shows, and there is proliferation of them here on TV, and wonder if all there is to America is New York,Las Vegas, Seattle and of course LA and all that hype and tension, but then my daughter in laws sister who lives in New York city seemed pretty cool when she stayed here.

A Friend Just Asked Me Why His JW Family Is Stocking Up On Food......
by minimus inall of his family are witnesses.
they told him they are "storing and stocking up" on powdered milk and non-perishable items.......this is the second time i hear that witnesses are doing this in preperation of "the end".

If this warning of preparedness is "food at the proper time" then how come they did'nt warn the poor brothers before Katrina hit? Or was this a case of those poor brothers being set up as collateral damage by Jehovah as a "parallel" "prefigurement" of the future?
This crap must have gone on pre 1975 as I remember my 1st wifes mother storing flour and rice in large quantities then. I agree that it's a cunning Watchtower use of recent bad circumstances to bolster fear and pre disaster excitement in the ranks!

What age for baptism?
by wozadummy in.
when i was a mormon i was baptised at age 8.. as witnesses some get baptised pretty close to this age.. when they face all those years ahead with so much of life to learn and understand how can it be right to come down so hard on young people who, when going thru puberty and beyond have to come to grips with all the feelings and mixed up thinking of youth and then fall short of the ideal and ,say ,fall in love with someone and have sex and then face a judicial commitee.. everyone is different and it's naturally easier for some young ones than for others due to alot of factors and keep on the straight and narrow.. but here is my opinion on things, simply put , jesus as a perfect man was not called upon to dedicate himself for baptism and full dedication to god till he was 30!.
is it not reasonable to expect the same from imperfect people led by sinful inclinations to make a mature decision when older at 30 instead of a teen or even a preteen and expect full control and even repentence?

Mysterious
I hate the chain reaction that one youth getting baptized sets off, where they look at you and wonder why not you. Especially if it is somoene younger. This happened to me with talks, with unbaptized publishing, everything. And I hated it when my "example" got parents to push their kids into things.
I know what you mean here as I remember a girl in my congo years ago whose older sister had been baptised for some time and the girl was 19 and still not baptised and many were talking about this in a negative way and I think she knew this. In time she did but I think it was thru pressure and a carrot being held out of going to Bethel to use her special skills that she aquired at college. When they finished with her I guess they chucked her out.
