Michael jackson is STILL a jw.. just on tv.
by candidlynuts inso i'm sitting here online halfway listening to nancy graces show on headline news.. someone calls in and asks if michael jackson was muslim now.
the jackson attorney says no, he was raised a jehovahs witness, he is a jehovah's witness and will probably be one all his life.
(wonder if he's been quietly reinstated?).

Mmm, jumbo shrimps brushed with teriyaki sauce, and or baked potatoes split in the middle with a slice of bacon inside while cooking. Delicious!

Amazing, Drew! And I'd venture a guess, that for a Witless mother, it would take up much more time than that, feeding, bathing and dressing children for meetings. Especially if the father is a servant, too busy doing spiritual things to be of much help.

I'll just bet they're out buying shredders as we read this...documents that don't exist can't be turned over to the court. They'll ramp up the "theocratic warfare."

Yes, got to watch those shipping prices, that's where they make money, if the item sells low, they can jack up the shipping to make a bit of profit there. Oh, well, the sellers are just trying to make a living too!

I know what you mean, Es! You can't beat it for birthday gifts and Christmas presents! (Did I say that?) Ha. If you're busy, out of ideas, or the stores are a madhouse, you can shop at leisure and have a bit of fun too!

17 Days: One Final Adventure
by Merry Magdalene ini once posted here a copy of my empassioned plea to the watchtower society--i want my mother back.
well, i just wanted to let all of you know that i got her back for a whole 17 days, and we had one final adventure together before she died, and there wasn't a damned thing they could do about it.. my mother is, was, a long-term loyal jw and i was her disfellowshipped daughter.
i believe she was in an almost constant state of conflict over me because her very strong maternal instincts demanded she behave openly and lovingly toward me, while her wts-trained conscience demanded the opposite.

That was beautiful, Merry. I'm glad you had that time with her to always remember. It will bring you peace, as you think back on it, years from now.

So....here's my story....
by CordyC inhey guys, it's me- cordy, again with my life story of being in the jws.
i've lived in new york city almost all of my life and have been associated with the jws way too long- since i was a little kid- 8 years old in 1987, plus my mom studied as early as 1983. my mom didn't get baptized until 1995 and i myself got baptized at the age of 17 iin 1996. i know we were probably on a list at some point as a "non-progressive" bible study since it took us so long to get baptized.
my mom and dad split in 1993 and that year was great because we were barely at meetings....then we got a shepherding call and my mom got sucked right back in.

Welcome, Cordy! I admire you for biting your tongue and helping mom, but how long will it take to pay off her bills? DO you really want to find yourself still living with Mom at 37 or 47? There will always be one more thing she needs before you can go...
Could you get your own small place, or maybe a room mate, but still help her out? Your sanity could be at stake after too long. If she refuses your help, she will have to make choices...I'm betting she'll still let you help her.
I work with a very nice gay man who is 56 now, and still helping Mother. He wants to retire, but Mom needs money. It's a heart wrenching situation, because Mom won't avail herself of any programs, but places the whole burden on him. He can't really date or have a life, because Mom IS his life, and it's making him depressed.
Could she look into credit counciling, some Chapter of bankruptcy, or see a legal advisor about reducing the credit card debt? It might ruin both your financial futures, if left as is.
Please keep us posted, hope I'm not being too pushy!
I realized I was bisexual before I left the Wits and got my first apartment. I would be almost in tears, at my last meetings, hearing them rant about how wicked gay people were, and deserving of death. Almost made me crazy. You seriously need to get out of that poison, dude!

Disgusting comment regarding the baptism at the DC

"My dad was the PO, and he was embarassed tht I waited that long!"That always ramped up the pressure, if your dad was a bigwig at the Hall. You were an embarassment to them if you weren't baptized, it made them look bad and hurt their "career."
That's a heckuva reason to push a kid to get baptized, if you ask me!
SirNose 586 and good girl or bad, I totally hear ya! Did we all have the same parents? Onc time, my dad said he was encouraging another brother to get his kid baptized, and they asked him, "What about your kid, is she baptized?" and he was so ashamed. The guilt trip did me in, hurting my dad like that, so I gritted my teeth and signed up when I was 16.
