I had two sisters at my door yesterday. They were maybe late twenties in age and very sweet. They didn't accomplish their agenda with me, because I began sharing with them that I was raised by an elder and a pioneer but now I am a born again Christian. I told them how much joy that brings me. I could see on their faces that their lives weren't joyful. They left saying, "Well, we respect your views. Thank you for being nice to us!" I gathered they aren't treated too nicely by most people they talk to. I truly felt bad for them and hope some of the things I pointed out, like the constant new light, gets them thinking.

Half hearted JWs compared to past generations
by JohnR1975 inis it just me or has there been a massive change in jws of late?.
when i grew up in the cult they had a real sense of urgency and would do an hour minimum, these days it’s not even ten mins before coffee break.. same goes for everything else, it’s half hearted .

Real reasons behind this change?
by Gorb injust a good conversation at home about the hour report change.. we think the change was not impmemented because the gb are such a lovely bunch of old grandpa's having the best in mind for us individuals.. there will be only, and we say only, an organizational reason for it.
a legal reason, to protect jw.org and it's officials and wealth.. next step?
maybe selling more kh and when jw hollywood studio's in rampoo are ready a change to tv subscription.. what do you think?

And to think I got dragged out in service on Sunday after the meeting to get an hour in, because I didn't have any time to report at the end of the month. It was absolutely critical to report time then. Wow, so now it isn't?

I was such a daughter in the late 70's who caused my elder father to get "invited" to the back room. I wanted an education and never pioneered. Long story short, he refused to allow my schooling so I got a job and moved out.
They lost control over me but regardless, they came to my apartment knocking on the doors and tapping on the patio glass. "Virgochik, we need to speak with you!" I didn't answer. What was my crime? Getting a job and an apartment?
Fast forward, father has passed and mother is very old and needs financial help. Hmmm, now she's glad that I bit by bit, got my degree, a good job, and have financial means to help her. These people are ignorant and should think ahead to situations like this. I really have to bite my tongue.

Advice to reduce hours earn less and spend more time on the ministry
by ExBethelitenowPIMA inthe advice to reduce work and earn less to spend more time preaching has not aged well.. the cost of living crisis means many have more going out on necessities than they have coming in.. so many asked their employer to reduce their hours and refused promotion only to see their colleagues go up the ladder when they stayed lowly position with rubbish jobs thinking the end will be here soon.
next week midweek meeting is all about preparing for an economic crisis.. they say have a go bag and new advice for all jws to store food and water at home and grow a vegetable garden, i kid you not.
this is the new direction..

Matthew 24:14 says to go forth and spread the gospel in all the earth, but I missed the part where it said pioneers must keep track of how many hours so they can turn in the required time slip each month. I think the Scripture meant just talk to people, share your faith when you get the opportunity. Where did time slips and pioneers and organized car groups come in? Cult.

So no more dropping stacks of them at the laundromat then? When I grew up in the seventies, it was a crime to get in the car without having my book bag organized. Meaning, Awake by week in front ready to pull out a copy. Watchtower behind Awake, most recent copies offered first. Older dates in back, treated as not as valuable. We just tried to unload them on anybody.
Me, one Saturday morning: I got all A's on my report card! Mom: Ack, you don't have your book bag ready!

Keep telling yourself that!
by Lost in the fog inin the latest copy of the elders textbook someone kindly made available to us on this website, i see that "independently organized meetings for spiritual feeding" are still not allowed.
no wonder because independent research would let the scales fall from the eyes.. the gb still insisting that they are guided by the (always lower case) holy spirit and the bible!!
not that the rank and file members need the bible or holy spirit themselves because they are fed through meetings, conventions, assemblies, jw broadcasting and the publications.

Oh the horror! People getting together to discuss the Bible. Seems like Jesus would have approved of that.

This is disgusting. At my church, we don't say no funds will go towards food for those needing it. No, we have a Benevolence fund for our members needing help and we collect food and money for rent assistance and for food banks. That's what Christians do. And then there's Watchtower. I don't know what you'd call them!

How do you personally deal with your still in family JWS ?
by Finkelstein infor myself i just try to avoid them intentionally maybe see them once every couple of years on average.
they used to be easy going but over the last 10 years or so they got more cult like and distant and i'm really not bothered by that, maybe a bit.
they stick to their own or other members like they are their family so, its makes it unattractive for myself to connect and reach out to them anymore.

I'm not sure there's too much worse a feeling than knowing your own mother doesn't want to see you.I reach out to her every day asking how she's doing because she's eighty five, and she makes sure to tell me "The Friends" are taking good care of her. She was hospitalized and didn't even tell me. None of "The Friends" did either. Recently, she was in the hospital again, and didn't bother to tell me she was back home. While I worried, she was having "The Friends" in and out and didn't give me a thought. I'm her only child.
My crime? I don't agree with JW teachings. Never arrested or had legal problems, always had a good job, nice home, responsible, courteous, tax paying, give to charity. But I'm saved and born again as a follower of Jesus so she doesn't need me around. I feel like I keep kissing her butt wanting a relationship with my mother. I sent her a letter asking to clear the air so we could be a real mother and daughter. She ignored the letter.
Honestly, I don't have a handle on how to deal with these people. Reaching out like normal people do doesn't work. They don't seem interested in meeting you half way.
Does anyone know if they're on the warpath again about shunning their family?
