Mine will start very soon, when we get a warm snap and the trees start to bud. Claritin keeps mine manageable, so I'm lucky. Hope you're feeling better, MsMcDucket!

Anyone else have allergy problems flaring?
by MsMcDucket ini didn't go into work tonight.
my allergies are kicking my butt.
i snort like a pig; blow my nose, frequently; have post nasal drip; sneeze like a hyenna; have gunk in my eyes; and sleep poorly.

Elders accuse us of Mail Fraud
by inbyathread inwell the sh*t has finally hit the fan now.
it seems that several families in the neillsville / marshfield area have received packages with apostatetm material enclosed.
at the service meeting last thursday night in two (count them) two congregations the elders have announced that a mail fraud scheme is in the area with packages arriving at publishers homes.

Swalker, the post office definitely wouldn't get involved in that one, since the fliers weren't placed in the mail and had no postage affixed.
By the way, how'd those fliers get on the cars, teehee?

dvw,
In that case, if the elder contacted the local Post Office, they would be given the phone number of the nearest Postal Inspector. As innundated as they are lately, with mailbox break ins and mail theft, I doubt if they'd be too interested anyway. Proof would have to be provided of what was enclosed in the mailpiece and the sender would be interviewed. This would all blow up on the elder making the false report if that were the case.

Best, worst and weirdest assembly halls...
by Jamelle ina recent thread about the experience of attending the 1969 convention as a young child really started me thinking.
i have several fuzzy memories of assemblies i attended as very young child.
this got me onto the track of the rather odd, uncomfortable or even really cool buildings i have visited over the years as a result of those conventions.. so my questions to everyone are:.

Hey, roybatty! That's what I guessed too, on an earlier post, that the old place in Chicago was at 79th and S. Ashland! So, you, me, Alana and Jamelle all went there! Small world! Did they eventually sell that old ASSembly hall because of the bad neighborhood, do you know?

I was kinda down and out today....
by IronClaw inso i went for a ride and stopped by this scenic overlook not to far from my house.
i sat on the bench there just looking at the mohawk valley at its best.
i started thinking what a waste life is when you don't have anyone to share beautiful moments like this with.

That song is very sad but deeply healing too. Sorry about the wife, what happened to her promise to love, honor, and cherish? There is always hope for her though, and sometimes it's good to just go someplace and be sad for awhile so we can feel stronger and better! Blessings!

Log on to usps.com. On the bottom left, is a link to contact the Inspection Service. They are the law enforcement branch of the US Postsl Service, the "postal police." They can define what constitutes mail fraud, and there are links to examples, as well. The Nigerian scam would be mail fraud, as is work at home solicitation, or enticing people to send funds thru the mail and not giving them what they ordered, etc. Mere correspondence is not mail fraud, without threats, foul or abusive language, harassment or blackmail for money. I would have to know more, but I think they are huffing and puffing to intimidate people and, as usual, don't have the slightest idea what they're talking about!

Never throw away those Watchtowers and Awakes!
by free2beme init is a sin to throw away your watchtowers and awakes.
you must let them build up and up and up, until you need to store them in boxes that will be places in corners of the attic or basement.
when you find them years later, still do not throw them away or you will die at armageddon!

I don't know if it was the cheap paper or living near Lake Michigan with high humidity, but after awhile, they'd discolor and turn brown-ish! Yuck! At that point we'd haul a stack of them to the laundromat. Sometimes, instead of leaving just one inside the door of a (pretending to be) not at home, we kids would leave 3 or 4 and scamper off, haha!

Don't get the phone... it's Satan!
by Virgochik inmy mom always warned her new studies that satan would take notice right away that they were studying the truth.
she would give examples, so they would recognize the devil's activities for what they were.
sure enough, the phone rang during a study just as mom asked the lady to read a scripture.

The Dubs flatter themselves their studies will get immediate, personal attention from the Devil himself, in many clever forms. Of course, this is also a convenient way to cover losing a study becuz it was just plain boring! Uh, looks like Satan discouraged another potential sheep, such a shame. They were so interested too, but you know, Satan put so many stumbling blocks in the way!

My mom always warned her new studies that Satan would take notice right away that they were studying the Truth. She would give examples, so they would recognize the Devil's activities for what they were. Sure enough, the phone rang during a study just as Mom asked the lady to read a scripture. Mom: "See? It's HIM!" Studylady:" It's who?" Mom: "It's the Old Boy Himself, interrupting our study! It's Satan using that telephone!" The poor study was really flustered. She wanted to answer the phone but mom was sure it was a test. Ring, ring went the phone. Mom kept urging studylady not to get up. "No! It's only Satan the Devil! Don't give in to his machinations. He wants to ruin your concentration on the scripture!" Then the lady's child started crying in the back room. Mom said, "See? The Old Boy is pulling out all the stops!" Needless to say, the woman was freaked out and stopped being home for her studies. Was anyone here warned that Satan would try to prevent their learning the true religion when they started a study? Did any of you tell their Bible studies to watch out for the tricks of Satan?
