Hi!
by sarahbear76 inso i just registered and i thought i should say something about myself instead of just lurking about.
i'm 21 years old and i left the the jw's when i was 18. i was born into the religion so it's been really hard getting use to things.
my story is pretty complicated and for some safety reasons i can't say to much.

Anyone Here Do Any Stock Market Investing?
by BlackPearl innot sure if this is the right forum for this, but....anyone want share any recent stock purchase?
if you own stock, please make an argument as to why you purchased it.
this is my hobbie, i look for undervalued companies to buy and wait for wall street to recognize it's true value (anyone heard of warren buffett?

Wow! I'm very impressed with the knowledge base on this forum. I will forever more serve as your Buffettologist (study of Warren Buffett's investing ways and why he buys what he buys) I'm in the mortgage business and love it, have lot's of satified customers...but for the last ten years I've also been a student of Warren Buffett, I love the stock market, it is truly a passion of mine. As a result I've studied and learned the ways of Buffett and have a very nice investing history of returns...23% annualized!
Now...Mr. Buffett has averaged 28% over his career with Berkshire Hathaway, I don't think I'll ever achieve that, but I'll try. Essentially, the rule of 72 (72 / by desired rate of return = time it takes to double your money) or (72 / by the time you want to double your money = rate of return you'll need to accomplish the task) says that at a 23% average annualized return on investment your money will double every 3.13 years.
Anyway...I'm proud to announce that I'm getting my license as an "Investment Advisor". I'm so eager to help others manage their money and to get their piece of the pie. Actually, that was what drove me to do this. I've had clients ask me for the past several years to help them invest, and then recently, one very sorry dejected soul came into my office for a refinance. I could see the angst on his face, he's an electrician, makes about $20.00 per hour, getting nowhere fast, just paying the bills and getting by with his family. So he says with these big sad eyes..."will you help me"? Now, normally I don't get too emotional about these things, especially with a big burly guy sitting across the desk, but this was different, he was begging for help. I said, "Yes! I'll help you". Wow, what a great feeling that was!
So...I get my license soon and we're off to the races. Anyone that wants to ask any questions about any particular company to invest in, just let me know. Occasionally, I'll share a good find with you all and give you reasons it would be a good investment. It's my passion, it's what I love, it's what I do.

At what time frame of exit, could you technically sue for harassment?
by free2beme ini was thinking about this the other day.
i have not been a witness for nearly a decade now, and my spouse left the religion at the same time.
we never disassociated ourselves, as we did not want to play by the rules of an organization that we no longer honored as anything.

I always liked the idea of a motion sensor that would detect a visitor and sound off a recording of a Pit Bull doing what Pit Bulls do best. They won't come back after that, I guarantee it!

Ralon,
I agree, all one can do is put the past behind. You can't change the past, the only effect one can have is on the future. I don't regret my forty years in the org. but...I'll use an analogy. If I purchased a dozen eggs and got them home, ready to put into the cooler, and I noticed that a couple of them were broken, I wouldn't throw the whole batch away. I'd just pick out the bad ones and keep the rest, because the rest are still in good shape. Like the eggs, I look at my history and think about the things that were good, the things I can use today, the things that will benefit me now...going forward.

How many need to die before it raises a flag?!
by loli ini don't know about the rest of you, but in my geographical area, it seems that when a person is df'd, it raises their risk of suicide.
not only did i lose my baby sister when she was 21 this way, but in the last 5 years there have been seven people in the circuit who have taken their own lives.
some perhaps are considering it, or have attempted it and nobody reveals it.

Loli,
I'm so sorry for what you're going / gone through. I had no idea that a suicidal path was so prevelent. People who contemplate this path must feel so rejected and dejected that there are no other alternatives. Problem is...you have no way of helping until it's too late.

Hey TT
I feel bitter too, about things that were happening at the hall (or halls) I had been to. Been a JW all my life, and it seems that things get way out of kilter and nobody (a) either notices it or (b) wants to do anything about it, all the while saying, don't worry about it, Jehovah will take care of it. I, personally do believe that Jehovah notices all things, but he also made us free moral agents with the ability remedy things on our own. The problem is,...if you attempt to remedy anything, you're considered "moving ahead" without Jehovahs direction.
