Your welcome, sorry for the mis-spelling. I was just told about that book this weekend myself, and I'm dying to read it! Talks about Jesus having women apostles, and Jesus having a child with Mary Magdoline, VERY interesting

Good books on the history of the Bible? Origins, translations, alterations
by somebodylovesme ini'm looking for good scholarly books that address the bible's history -- its origins, translations, alterations, suppressions ... in other words, the history the elders never told you.
;) i'm not a religious person (i would probably be classified as a weak atheist if i cared much about classifications), but i am very fascinated by religion and would like to expand my own historical knowledge.
bonus points for any books that address the similarities between judaism/christianity and zoroastrianism.

Flu "Epidemic" at School
by Scully inone of my kids was sent home from school last thursday with symptoms of headache, fever, chills, aching joints.
the next day, still not feeling well, she asks to go to the doctor, so i know this is not your typical kid-wanting-to-get-out-of-school thing.. i get a call from the school principal, and it turns out that out of about 400 students, almost 25% of the kids have come down with the same symptoms.
the public health department is notified.

That happened last week here in SC!!!!! An elementary School in Irmo. Out of 750 students, on the second day of the break out, they said over 300 of the students were at home with a stomach flu! Along with 15 teachers. DEHEC closed the school down for a week to disinfect also, thats scary......

If they had the "truth", wouldn't they stop printing new literature?
by JH in.
the fact that they are coming out with new magazines and new books all the time, can only mean that they haven't found the truth yet.. if they had the truth, they'd be satisfied with their old publications.

What Things Irritated You While A Witness?
by minimus ini used to hate it when i'd listen to brother blow give his long winded comment about how we're all supposed to do this or that----and he was barely considered a witness......we had a few elders, and especially the po who would go overtime just because they could.
the po's bookstudy always went overtime.
45 minutes into the meeting he was still on paragraph 3. and he would read every scripture including the ones quoted!!!

I can concur with all of these comments, literally. The one I hated the most was listened to a talk about how a husband was supposed to treat his wife, and provide for his family. He did aboslutely nothing that was taught in the hall. Would irritate the hell out of me to listend with him sitting next to me.

We will never see holidays through a child's eyes
by MissBehave inthis is one of the things that saddens me greatly.
those of us who were raised as witnesses missed out on all the magic associated with being a child experiencing a holiday.
we will never know the great anticipation of santa claus, the wonder of having the tooth fairy visit us in the night, the excitement of hunting for easter eggs, dressing up to trick or treat, etc.

That is sad...... I did not grow up a JW. The best times of my life are remembering the hollidays as a child. Haloween, Christmas. My dad would play a game every christmas. He would put a note in a present. It would say something like, "i'm cold, please look for me in the kitchen" you would go to the fridge, find another note leading you to another and so on, until you found the present. It was alot of fun as a kid. We could never go to sleep at night, and was up at 3 every year from excitement.
Needless to say, in the past few months, I've done them all for the first time in 10 years and loved every minute!

Do JW's elders really want to know what kind of "sexual activities" you did
by booker-t ini know many ex-jw elders out there have the first hand knowlege of this but i was wondering do the elders really want to know everything you did when you were engage in sexual activity that got you in front of a judicial committee when you were a jw or now.
i have heard horror stories of the elders wanting to know did the person have an "orgasim" did they perform "oral sex" did they perform "anal sex" etc; i can't believe that a person could be so "nosy" as to want to know what a person did in the bedroom.
i know a girl who is now df that i work with and she said that one of the elders asked her what size penis did her boyfriend have and did she prefer "small" or large penises.

Back to the original question, I have a question for it. You know how they cover up child molestation? What if, a spouse did something that was on the lines of rape. You think they would just cover that up to? Probably

Anyone feeling the Memorial pressure?
by atypical infor those who are fading, do you feel the pressure building as the memorial approaches?
family members who otherwise are busy with their own interests suddenly start paying more attention, dropping hints and holding their breath as it were.
then there are the invitations.

nope, none what so ever.
I'm just disapointed that I won't get that free bottle of wine that i've been getting after every memorial for the past 8 years, LOL
