as a jw i was taught that no matter what we were doing "in the world" our actions should always be above reproach.
we were always to be giving a "fine witness" many jws, myself included, believed that when people saw our fine behavior and recognized our clean morals they would attribute it to our religion.
and some would be so impressed they would want to learn more.. now that i am out i have had a fascinating time finding out what people really think about jws.
Recently on Martha Stewart there were two actors (one that did impressions of famous people) and the other one told him to do his impression of his father when Jehovah's Witnesses were at his door. Martha promptly stopped him (probably because she was trying to be politcally) and she said "I know several Jehovah's Witnesses and they are lovely people".
I really wanted to see that impression. Damn you Martha!
i think i come across as a bit agressive online but in reality i know i'm extremely chilled - lazy some might say.
i'm greek you see and we do so love to argue the toss - loudly and insistently - and then have a game of tavli (backgammon) afterwards.
thing is most of my family are still jw's and as i can't do it with them you guys end up getting both barrels!!.
I appear much taller online than I really am in person.
yesterday after school i had to go work on a project with friends.
mom said be home by 5, but there was a huge accident a mile from where i live, and i sat on the road for like 10 - 12 minutes, and was 5 minutes late getting home.
mom was there (didn't go to work- guess why) and she was pissed.

Strong, independent, rebellious, bitchy....they weren't going to let no man tell them what to do. HA! Much more fascinating in my 80's teenage world than the Ruths and Esthers. Plus they wore more makeup and cooler clothes/jewelry which was a big plus in my shallow teenage eyes. Hell, who am I kidding....that's still a plus for me today!!!
Looking back I wonder if that actually made some kind of profound statement about myself, that I was rebelling even then.
