I just remembered why this date sounds familiar to me, May 8
by Mulan inon may 8, 1955, i was baptized.
i was 9 years old and it was a special baptism on a sunday.
for some reason, we didn't have a circuit assembly in the spring that year, so they just held a baptism.. what were my parents thinking?

I was newly 12 myself when i was coerced into taking the plunge..Wow,.at 9,ill bet that your folks got alot of positive strokes for raising such a faithful child!!!!..There was like a competition going on in the hall when I was a kid.The youngest baptism and the most stuff sold and hours and all that...Its too damned young to be making a life decision like that, but since armageddon was 'just around the corner',you can kinda see where they were coming from..lol...

Vicodin, the not so innocent addiction
by free2beme inwith the thing that happened with kennedy today, it got me to thinking about how many people i know who are addicted to vicodin.
they always think it is no big deal, as it is not meth, or any other well known and notorious drugs.
plus, in their mind, they label what they take as okay as it is not listed as illegal and doctors do give out the prescription.

And then, some folks have a permanent condition which warrants the use of pain meds..for good.after one tries, surgery, chiro, accu, massage and hydrotherapy,it might just be that the only answer comes in the form of a small pill..seems like everyone has a jonze these days..ciggys,sugar,coffee,stupid tv shows..its all good..as the late mr lennon said,'whatever gets ya thru the night'....as long as it isnt being evil to another person that is....im thinking that people have needed an after dinner cocktail or weekend beer thing for years..some of us dont like that particular drug{alcohol}..for some it does more harm than good..some folks cant take pain meds.or sugar,or coffee..lotsa folks hate smoke..whatever..we are only here for a very brief period of time, and my personal creedo is to enjoy it and live it the best that you can...or try to anyway....

I ask the question that i have pondered so many times.Does one get addicted to the drug or the way one feels after taking it?{painfree}...Hydrocone is prescribed for pain and in many cases a severe chronic pain...If you are not in pain, chronicly,it is easy to say that someone who uses this drug"excessivly" is addicted..My personal feeling is that being out of pain is what is addicting..The drug itself isnt that great..It give many folks stomach problems and makes them sleepy, but what it DOES do is eliminate pain, which for many many of us is a constant daily companion. Its easy to get addicted to not being in pain.Being painfree is a wonderful and seductive state.Your question is a valid and interesting one, that I have wondered about and asked many opinions on.I certainly dont agree w/stealing someone elses pain meds, because it means that they wont have them for their own pain. But i can certainly see the appeal of being painfree and still able to function.Hydocodone make this possible for millions...

Anyone ever have a psychic reading?
by Woofer inok i know growing up that psychics were a big "no-no" "because they get their information from the demons" but i have to admit that i have had a few readings in the last couple of years... i have consulted a few times with two different psychics.
i am amazed at their accuracy.. for instance, my fiance was looking for a job about a year ago so i consulted with this psychic and she told me he would find a job with a company that has the letter "w" in it and that he would be very successful there.
in fact he did find work with a company with a w in their first name and only after being there a year he got a huge promotion.

ive had it done twice..the first time was right on and great, but the second one was so bad and so not believeable.bizarre specifics like a toothache and hitchhiking..the first one was more of a "you are so cool, smart and wonderful, etcetc"thing.I used to read the tarot for folks..after a while, you learn what they want to hear...money talks...coincidently,the good reading i had was cheaper than the stupid one...hmmm.go figure...

Last week I was in a laundrymat,on vacation, and picked up a copy of the awake..Read an article on chernobyl..It was at best at 4th grade level.Had no point and made no sense..Whats up w/watchtower and awake magazines being left at laundrymats and drugstores? Is this considered publishing now?Man'o,man,I remember the old daze, fighing off mean dogs, walking in the rain, and snow and cars w/roll up windows.Im glad that joe hoba is making life easier for his chosen few,by letting them dump piles of litter ature in stores and laundrymats...

Just how hyped was 1975?
by MuadDib inaight.
i was raised in the jws, but i'm still young (22) and all my life what i've been told is that the society never really promoted 1975 as the definitive year for the coming of armageddon.
what i was always told is that some overzealous witnesses took certain things out of context and developed a very extreme reaction - ie selling their houses, quitting their jobs, dropping out of school, etc.

1975 was hyped to the hilt here and folks WERE told to not put kids in school,or to take 'em out if possible in the fall..i was a kid,and terrorstricken everytime a thunderstorm hit.i was forced to get baptised at barely 12 cause my folks wanted me to make it..dont know what the nest 1975 is,but im sure itll be in 'gods own time'..lol.

Is there a God/supreme being/ or what?!
by DigitalFokus inok, so i was raised luthren, my dad was cathlioc and then i went dub for 5 years and since have been completely turned off religion.
the dub experience combined with world events and my personal ones have pretty much pushed all thoughts of a "almighty" out of my mind.
of course there are times that i think of religion or get into a "2am religion talk" and i wonder wtf is really going on.

as the late great warren zevon said "enjoy every sandwich"...dont worry about if there is a god or not..believe in yourself and all the good you can do for yourself and others..let the suits worry about who's butt to kiss..
