July 15th WT out - Coming out Swinging at Apostates Hard
by LostGeneration inthis is one of the most aggressive watchtowers i think i have ever read.. four study articles on not "following the crowd" not following unrealities(page 13) not following false teachers, meaning apostates of course(p 15).
avoiding false teachers means "refusing to read their literature, watch tv programs that feature them, examine their web sites, or add comments to their blogs.
(para 7, pg 16).

I would describe the Watchtower's Disfellowshipping as truly merciless
by sabastious inthoughout my life i have seen many take the walk of shame that is disfellowshipping.
i have never been df'ed, but i have had many experiences reading the faces of newly df'ed ones.. their faces are always the same.
defeated by a foe that they never had a chance with in the beggining; a raping so-to-speak.

Superspook,Im glad that you didnt have the wretched experience that most of us did.It is awful,and even m=now,years later,is tough when you are working with someone who is still a witness.However,the fact that you call the religion"The Truth" tells me why they might have been a bit nicer and more humane towards you.A lot of us just cannot do that.Really.Not even a little bit.Maybe they saw that you were not ready for the "tar and feather' thing.Im glad.It is not anything I wish on anyone,and you sound like a pretty nice person.Good luck,but if they find that youve been on this forum,you might be in trouble.2 people from my mums congregation just got df'd for being on "apostate forums".Be careful,ok?

Dinner hand-holding prayer at someone else's house (or at a restaurant)

as an atheist, i do not pray, however sometimes i will go to someone's house or to a restaurant for dinner and the others at the table will hold hands and pray.. when this happens, i politely decline and abstain while they do their thing.. .
is it rude for an atheist to politely decline to participate in a hand-holding group prayer, or is the act of hand-holding prayer a form of religious coercion and itself rude?.

I went to an Easter thingy,and ended up having a teenaged boy on either side of me.We all had to hold hands during the prayer,and I kept thinking about their sweaty pale hands...Euwww..Guess Im not a touchy feely type.

1978 Black Caddie Deville w/a scarlett interior.I LOVED that car,kept it shiny and clean.Never was able to find out how fast it would go,cuz they are very strict here,but I got it up to 90 w/out even realizing it.I LOVED it! Like a giant ocean liner..Next fav was my 97 Toyota Camry5 speed.40 mpg,and it'd run all day and night w/out any complaint.Kinda got bored w.it and sold it.Im looking at a 73 AMC Gremlin now...lol

I think its cool that people still respond to a nice warm smile.I love the reaction I get when I zone in on someone and smile at them,they melt! I think its a tough mean old world out there,and if a pretty anything smiles at you,then it gets an automatic positive response.Dont take it personaly,its the kindness thing.People LOVE it!

i just came back from the memorial
by J. Hofer init wasn't all that bad.
met a few friends who also don't give too much about it and had some great laughs afterwards.
we talked about how we still remember when only about 7000 took from the emblems and now its more than 11000. we also laughed about how it would look like having jesus and his disciples pass around wine and bread on a plate like that.. all in all it was the same procedure as every year.

I went.God,HOW do people sit still for an hour???15 minutes into it i was redesigning a bracelet that I was wearing and wishing that I had some pharms.And yes,the talking is getting longer.Pretty much the same of schmiel,except that now they are talking about how AFTER the big A,there will be no more Memorials.I listend,or tried to,I really did.But their bait and switch,red herring technique of speaking,left me wishing I had brought another peice of jewelry to play with...yeah,I went for my old mum.
