Welcome PDQ. You ask why we discuss negative topics. Well, as for me, this board is not my whole life--but it is a confirmation and comradery thing for me to know that other people felt the same confusion and disillusionment that I felt. I DO try to reach out to those lost, but I also hug and commiserate (sp?) with those people who can really relate. Just out of curiosity, were you ever a witness?

Did You Believe "The End" Was Going To Come In Your Lifetime?
by minimus inwhen the society came out in 1966 with the info that 6000 years of man's existence would come to an end by 1975, i thought it was a crock.
for 9 long years, all jws did was speculate about "when" the great tribulation was going to begin.
i always thought of jesus' words about "nobody knowing the day or the hour"----yet jehovah's witnesses figured it out?

I never bought into it myself as a kid. (Born in). It just didn't seem real. I mean, how many times can the alarm go off until you no longer notice it? I think I'm immune to the armaggedon fear. But I feels so sad for my 'faithful' 86 year old parents when I hear them say, "I never thought I'd live to be this old and sick in this old system." Thank goodness they saved for retirement.

Just whining...feel like a bucket of ice water dumped on me.
by Gregor ina couple of days ago i had finally forced myself to set down and fill in a form document that was downloaded with adobe as a pdf.
i had been putting this off as long as possible because it was so tedious and boring but i now had to complete it.
four hours and a gallon of coffee later i was on the 11th and final page when i backspaced to correct a typo...yeah, that's right...poof!

Another @$#%^! witness song stuck in my head!
by nsrn ini have "forward you witnesses" playing over and over and over and over and over in my head today.
i am trying to sing something else but it keeps cropping up...surely there is a pill for this!

Okay, I am sitting outside laughing out loud--I immediately knew and sang all the songs mentioned--EXCEPT JoJo's. Must be out of the "new" book.
And I got a double dose as a kid, as my mom played the piano at the hall and practiced ALOT. Even my aborted piano lessons included "Jehovah....is our refuge....our god...in whom we trust"

Is there one thing that keeps you from going back?
by nsrn ini had email contact this week for the first time with an old boyfriend--haven't seen him in 28 years!
i'm trying to compose an answer...there are a hundred reasons why i will never go back, but how to sum it up?
i'm thinking along the lines of "i just don't believe that the society/gb is god's representative on earth" and see if he presses further.. suggestions, anyone?.

I had email contact this week for the first time with an old boyfriend--haven't seen him in 28 years! We are catching up on family, etc, and he asks if there is one thing that keeps me from going back to the "Truth". He says he's been in and out all his adult life, but doesn't say why yet.

Suggestions, anyone?
And wouldn't it be great if he lurked on this board?
BTW, this guy was my first love, my first kiss...and when I got the email I turned back into a sweaty-palmed 15 year old!

Help me find a thread, in last week or so, about fearing armaggedon...
by nsrn inin the past week or so, there was a mention of someone reading the bible again, going back to the hall, because of fear of armaggedon and world conditions being so bad.... does that ring a bell to anyone?
i had someone mention that same circumstance this week and i wanted to re-read the thread.. is there any way to do a search on this site?'.

Nope, still not the one I'm looking for. Maybe I dreamed it! But this is the only board I haunt. Maybe it was just a single comment in a thread, but I could have sworn on a stack of Watchtowers that someone spoke of reading the Bible every day now, in fear of Armaggedon just around the corner...
