Here is related link that I posted two and a half years ago. Not sure if it will help you or not...

For important political debates and speeches, I think CNN broadcasts live.
Does ESPN broadcast sporting events live??
I don't know.

What good comes from joining a community like this for support/therapy?
by dances with smurfs inokay so if anyone can give some imput on this, i would really appreciate hearing different opinions!.
(its downright impossible to make decisions, big or small, these days....sigh).
ive been thinking alot about the possible consequences and outcome of joining in on a community like this and using it as a form of therapy or a support group type setting when struggling over the witnesses.

Take what you need, ignore the rest.
Most of us find that we get more support - and certainly more *targetted* support - when we post.
There have been a few that use this forum as a sort of diary - keeping a journal.
The best way to get on with your life is to start making your life. If you dont' have a degree, start working on one. You will be kept busy and have opportunity to meet other people. Get a hobby. Get out more. Look to advance in your career.
Soon you will be so busy and filled with a feeling of accomplishment that you will no regret leaving/fading from the org.
And posting your progress and set-backs here will help not just you, but the people who read and post comments to your thread and also those who log on and just lurk.
Enjoy your new journey! Hopefully you will continue to post and you move along.

I worry about blood!
by laverite inno, i'm not worried about having a blood transfusion.
i worry about me and my children not getting life saving treatment should there ever be an accident as all next of kin are jws.. as a da'd single/only parent, i worry if i am ever taken out of commission in an accident, and my children (or i) need medical care, that my jw family (they're all jws!!!
) might try to prevent that.

Did you read my comment on someone else's thread from earlier today??~! I mentioned the thought of a 'Yes, Blood!' card in exchange of the old NoBlood Card.
To protect yourself and your children, complete an Advance Medical Directive and make several copies. Do this BEFORE an emergency arises.
Then talk to your physicians and give them copies. Consider filing a copy with your local hospital (if this is possible). I would further consider making a card for your wallet stating something to the effect that you have family members who may try to dictate treatment in opposition to your own wishes. On that card also include the name and phone number of your physician(s) who you requested keep a copy of the AMD.
Also, designate a non-jw friend to be your healthcare agent - the person who can make decisions for you if you are unconscious. List their name on the card and AMD as well.
I can't stress enough the importance of doing this BEFORE an emergency arises. I had a minor incident that could have had tragic consequences from both a blood-loss situation AND an inopportune surprise visit from an elder that I did not know asking uncomfortable questions in my hospital room.
Better safe than sorry. Stick a note in an obvious place in your wallet - now.

Saying goodby on a board is a little weird if you ask me. It's not like you're going to another planet that doesn't have internet access.
by gubberningbody inthat would suck.. in fact, the first thing i do in an alien abduction before i give in to the implants and anal probes is to make sure they're wired to the max.
any "superior" civilization that doesn't have hd plasma and bluetooth can bite me..

Relationships develop here - even if just in posts. When someone who posts alot suddenly 'disappears', their absence is felt.
For some, it can be unsettling to have these posters leave without notice. It can feel like abandonment - and that's painful when the same person is also dealing with possible shunning issues.
Most 'good-bye' threads make me a little sad. But happy that they are moving on with their respective lives.

by drew sagan instartfragment.
after thinking things over i have realized that the time has now come for me to say goodbye to jwd.. some personal reminiscing about all of the people i have enjoyed talking with on jwd reminds me why it is time to go.
simply speaking, most of my good friends are no longer here.

You were a poster I always read. Thoroughly enjoyed reading the details and process of your departure from the org.
I know the journal will continue to be a resource for others.
Ditto Besty's comment. If you are even the LosAngeles or SantaBarbara area, let us know. I would love to meet you and your family.

Unbelieving spouses and blood treatments.
by garyneal insometime back, my wife and i discussed the possibility that i may wind up in a hospital with a condition that would require a blood transfusion to ensure my best chance for survival.
i asked her if i was unconscious and could not make the decision myself, what would she do?
her response was something along the lines of, "i will try to get the best treatment you can get.

This important subject comes up periodically. Always a good reminder to update our Advance Medical Directives with physicians and local hospitals so we are not caught off guard when emergency occurs.
That said, I wonder if anyone has come up with a 'Yes, Blood!' card to take the place of the JW 'No Blood' card? Might not work with spouses of non- and ex-JWs but you never know... It might be beneficial. It would also take the pressure OFF the active or apologetic JW. They do not need to give consent, just turn over the wallet with a 'Yes, Blood!' card signed and validated. This may work especially if on the card there is noted that an AMD is on file with personal physician and local hospital.
For those who are interested, here is one of my experiences (using my first JWD account):
and a thread I started on Blood vs NoBlood:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/medical/98275/1/Blood-A-Balanced-View
I didn't post last year's experiences, but last year I was hospitalized twice (for completely unrelated issues). BOTH TIMES blood transfusion was a top recommendation for treatment. For the 2nd hospitalization (internal bleeding of lacerated liver as result of trauma), surgery and/or transfusion was presented. Other option was complete 100% bedrest in ICU with close monitoring. I was excellent, non-moving patient. (You move the arms, you move the body, which moves the liver, which makes it bleed more. )
The other hospitalization, I had option of alternative treatment that would likely have taken 6-8 weeks to give results. I opted for my doctor's #1 recomendation and was back to near normal by the time I left the hospital the next day.
Blood is not always the best or first choice of physicians. But taking it completely off the discussion table is completely irrational - and, in my opinion, shows a complete LACK of respect for life.
