Just because someone is athiest does not mean that they would automatically refuse to meet at a church.
Churches often offer their buildings for secular and educational events.
Why WOULDN'T and Athiest XJW participate if they were interested in talking about the subject?

I don't think so... There are many indications where whole blood is *not* given; it's not just a JW cause. Different medical issues call for different treatments, including various blood factions.
Also, the medical community routinely deals with medically-compromised situations and so must often custom tailor even common treatment to meet the needs and limits of the patient. JW conscience may be approached as a 'compromised situation' in order to treat the patient as a whole.

Sorry I cannot remember your situation. If your husband is a JW, this argument may backfire on you. I know MANY JWs who realize the tightrope that they walk when using current JW reasoning on blood and choose, instead, to fall back on the older stance to abstain completely.

Ginger Tea
Slice off a chunk of Ginger and cut off the exterior skin. Place in a mug already filled with boiling hot water (the water will fizzle a little). Add Honey and Fresh Lemon to taste.
Good for when you feel ill.
Wish I had this when I was going through chemotherapy. Fresh ginger is supposed to help alleviate nausea.
For easy recipies, I google something like this: "Recipe easy pork chop ginger" or "recipe easy ginger mahi mahi" or "recipe easy ginger carrots".

my assembly was a couple of weeks ago and lets just say the only way i could possibly get through that b.s was by having some "funny stuff" before the sessions, then to my car at lunch.
pretty much slept the days away.
my wife would constintaly ask me what was wrong with me, i said i was feeling really sick.
Somehow I got invited to work in the Auditing Department. Spent the entire assembly in the Air-Conditioned Locker Room. I felt privileged.
If not for that, I think I would have stopped going. Or made arrangements to go out of town each summer. I do not tolerate extreme heat too well. Dodger Stadium, Meadowlands, the Racetrack on Long Island, NY (Can't remember the name??) ... BRUTAL.
One year a sister with UBM and a young daughter invited me to join them at Jack Murphy Stadium in SanDiego. That was a lot better. So was the indoor arena in Fresno, CA. Dodger Stadium is no longer used in favor of smaller groups at indoor arena in Long Beach.

I was told by an elder that they should not donate because it might be mis used in a way that is against their beliefs.
I believe that this is the official WTS position and it smacks of piousness and paranoia.
Blood donations can be made on behalf of a single patient (friend or family member).
Even if the blood was occaisionally 'mis-used' against the donors wishes, the guilt whould lay with the 'mis-user', not the donor who was attempting to show love and respect to the intended recipient.

I think a key point that Bane and others do not realize is that many of us, like Quentin and Simon, HAVE truly moved on but we feel compelled to help others who continue to have questions.
Questions about the doctrine and history of the org, questions about how to leave (better to DA or fade away?), questions about what to do with the rest of their lives.
Contrary to what the org would have active JWs believe, XJWs are not merely looking to satisfy their own personal lusts. The great majority care greatly about other people. We want to live happy, well-balanced, fulfilling lives and are happy to share our own experiences in personal growth with others who want to know how and why we did it.

Regardless of which components they are permitted to accept, are they permitted to donate any to assist someone else.
If not, it seems a bit hypocritcal to me.
