What do you say if you get asked "Are you an Apostate?"
by KateWild ini am reuniting with past students and return visits.. i met up with a young lad i used to call on.
he is not baptised, but at university in his 20's and living away from home.
his mother is a jw and his father is not.

The WT is full of 'loaded language'. Also, their definitions of the phrases they use are not necessarily the same as how the rest of the world uses the same words and phrases.
I would first ask the questioner to define his understanding of the word/title in question. Then, without applying a title, I would (maybe) consider stating my position/opinion.
Also, I would never use the abbreviation TTATT with a sympathetic JW. I might use the phrase "The truth about 'the truth'", but not the word 'T-TATT' or 'TTATT' itself. That is a sure why to get yourself labeled.
Plus I don't think it sounds right. But that's just me.

I need help in dealing with a toxic family member!!!!
by hoser ini have a close family member who is a pro in using shame to try to make me feel bad.
they are coming to stay at my place soon and the issue of me and mrs hoser not attending/ doing field service will come up no doubt.. i need some advice on how to deal with this because whenever i deal with these relatives they make me feel worthless.
it is probably part because they are jw's and jw's motivate by fear and guilt.. .

For me, the best way to deal with something like this is keep the visit as short as possible and you stay has upbeat and optimistic as possible.
Avoid talking about religion. Be ready with a comeback for when they ask about your spirituality (or other some such prying question), tell them you are doing very well. If they push further, repeat that you are doing very well spiritually. If they continue, tell them it's personal and between you and Jehovah and you have never felt more content with your relationship. (I hope this is true.)
Be happy with your life. Talk about hobbies that enthrall you. Get everybody outside and go for a hike or a long walk. Or just send your self out for a couple of errands or a long solo walk.
Do some activity (art gallery show, museum, movie) something new that you can all talk about.
Good luck with the visit. I hope you can find/create a few fun moments and memories with them.

3rdgen asked: Does anybody remember when the WTBT$ insisted they were NOT a religion????
Oh! I clearly remember that. And Kingdom Halls are not churches (although *sometimes* they were listed under churches in the phonebook - but not always).
And this 'packet' has been referenced on this website many times. One most notable with poster 'alamb' where the elder speaking on behalf of the JW spouse denied that such a packet existed... Repeated denied its existance... All while the judge had a copy right in front of him.
Makes me ill to think about it.

Just wanting clarification on the RBC
by joe134cd ini have been reading threads about how the rbc operates, so i sort of have a fair idea of what the answers will be.
but i would like to have a more direct answer to my questions.. where do the orders come from that a hall is in need of a remodel, or a new one to be built.. can the elders refuse a remodel or quickly built.. out side contractors are only allowed with rbc approval.
what are the consequences if say a kh needed a new roof, and secular contractor was hired.. is it a case that orders a given that a hall needs a remodel, and that the rbc will have total control, and look out for who ever gets in the way, and elders just have to simply comply.. this is the question i most want answered.

Thoughts on going back, am I the only one that feels this way?
by excaliber inhello everyone, i know you have heard this topic before and your probably thinking.
...not again lol.. but i was wondering if anyone has thought of going back for the same reasons as myself, i don't think its the truth but i searched and my conclusion is that other religions don't have the truth, they are all wrong in my opinion.
if there is no other religion to go too, why leave were i was born and raised.

There are much better ways to spend your time. Either working on a degree, developing a hobby, taking a walk, reading.
When you meet new people, you don't have to make them understand you before you can hang out with them. Just hang. Do things together. Eventually you can tell parts (or all) of your story. But it does not have to happen first.
And returning to the org with intent to be distracting and rude is just bad manners, imo.
