From the little I have read here about your mom, she has lived a very full life and has been generous and gracious in her legacy. Sorry to hear she is not well. I hope she is comforted by having her children near.

my mother broke her hip last week.
she had an emergency partial replacement surgery friday night.
we don't know how she did it as we have caregivers with her at all times, she may have fallen while in the bathroom for a few minutes.

it's heartwarming to see so many new faces (and some older ones) playing their part in this thriving community.
so many more free minds!

Wow! I was thinking about you, KW13 about a week ago and then missed this thread until today. Good to hear from you. Really glad to hear that things seems to be going well.
'Little' Noah is almost 7??? OMG! Where have the years gone???
Other than busy, how is your life? Do you still have contact with your JW family? Have others left since you did?

life is tough when you've spent your best years in the borg...how do you reconnect when kids are grown and you're close to retirement age?.
What general area do you live in. It might help to spark some specific ideas.

don't wait.
update your advance medical directives before you find yourself in my situation.... .
my left arm was feeling 'odd' last friday morning as i was getting dressed for work.
Wow. This feels like a lifetime ago that I submitted my hospital experience. It was also under my previous JWN 'alias'/nickname.
I was reminded of this experience while reading other posters' experience of being asked "those" questions by visiting elders...
To those who asked in this thread, I healed well; Continued to ride my motorcycle (although have not ridden for about a year now); No elders ever visited me (although I moved out of territory 5months after this experience); I did not file any complaints with the hospital (busy with new job and new home and just didn't want to be bothered). I have been admitted to the same hospital for other emergencies and treatment since this time and the JW designation does not come up anymore.
The whole situation eventually died down so that I rarely think about it anymore.
But BIG lessons learned. Change your religious status and Advance Medical Directive *NOW* if you want to make sure that your fade stays on track.

newspaper now publicly names one of the local elders that covered up child abuse.
it is same elder that wt glorified before because of his work at nasa.. .

under the radar wrote: So is this the same NASA engineer with a different name, or someone else entirely?
According to the newspaper article, Ronald Lawrence is the name of the pedophile. Wendell G Marley was the elder to whom the letters from WTS HQ were addressed ("Body of Elders, McAlester Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, c/o Wendell G. Marley.”)
Wendell Marley is noted as the author of the '82 Watchtower article that Blondie posted.
I hope this helps clarify who is who.

i keep hoping and doing searches on the site for people in my area.
so far no one i recognize.
i have a few df'd friends that i lost touch with long before they were out (two who were elders actually when they got the boot) and would love to find out they were on here, but don't know if they plan on coming back.
Oubliette - you have a pm.

Three that I can think of. Feels like I'm forgetting one other one...
First was a long-time poster [outnfree] mentioned my family's name in a congregation thread. My parents had studied with her sister. She studied with another woman in our cong.
Second was I stupidly mentioned someone's real name in a non-private bethelite thread. That person has a unique name and professional customers that googled his name saw my thread and asked him about it. He decided to check out this site, found me and I apologized profusely and had the offending post removed. (I think this actually worked out well, in the end. But I was sure embarrassed to have outed him in the first place.)
Third was someone who's house I was assigned to for bookstudy. We both posted in the same thread something unique about one of our elder's famous children. From our posts, it was clear that we were in the same hall at the same time.
Another few people knew people from my old halls but did not know me (and I did not know them).
I keep looking for more people that I might know; still hoping to find more old friends.
