hello people.. i'm tired and a bit sick at the moment but i can't let anyone think that this is going to go away.... i am able to tell you a few things in order to prevent any confusion in the minds of those who are thinking that nothing will come of this arc;that nothing will effect the wtbts in america and other places.. i have been there and given my testimony.
helen milroy and her assistants were there along with another group of people who are there to lend assistance if you crack up at any time during or after the hearing.
i did not crack up but can see how this happens.. security is tight and anonymity is sacred to them as they want to protect all who come forward.
You did a tough, but loving and decent thing here.
You deserve much respect and peace.

in about 1980 i came to know of and meet one time with lawrence onoda, ph.d., a jehovah's witness psychologist [also i think elder] in southern california.
i was shocked to know there was such a thing in view of the wts traditional stance against jws consulting such a person!
he had been one of jws for six years at that time, i recall.
He was an elder in my hall in Thousand Oaks (WLV / Conejo Hills Congregation) and my bookstudy conductor for quite a while.
Last I heard, his wife moved out of state. Don't know if he went with her or remained in their Thousand Oaks home.
He played a big role in my leaving the org as his apparent contradictory methods got me to see major flaws in JW proceedure.
A friend of mine knew a young girl that was a victim of child sex abuse and wanted to help this young woman get the help she needed. So, looking for advise, my friend reported to Larry what the young teenager had told her. Larry was LIVID. He yelled at my friend because, in his paid professional capacity, he was a mandated reporter. However, if she had brought the matter to any other elder, they could deal with it on just a congregational level (or at least within the org). That's all I remember about what my friend told me about this conversation so I cannot elaborate any further.
Same friend told me of another conversation with him... This friend was going to school to be an alcohol/drug counselor. She kindly went to him to discuss how to reconcile the direction to spurn advanced education AND psychotherapy versus the WTS direction to seek first the kingdom as 'more service' is the cure for all personal and emotional woes. If the 'cure' for depression is 'more service', then what is the benefit of (expensive) therapy? If therapy *does* help heal people, then why is the WTS so forceful in it's vilification of professional psychotherapy? And why does he remain in the field? She said he was agitated and openly avoided her after those conversations.
LIke I said, it was one of the very first WTF moments for me. One that forced me to see cracks in the WTS fascade.
I feel compelled to add, however, that he was always acted kind to me. Kind and thoughtful in helping me through some very difficult points in my life. (Was he misguided, deluded by a publishing company, or complicit with them and fleecing a beaten flock?? I many never know.)
Those 'difficult things' completely disappeared shortly after I got up and walked out of the Kingdom Hall one Sunday, long, long ago.
i'm not sure why i was thinking this but does anyone else find it an incredibly rare coincidence that geoffrey jackson just so happened to be in australia attending to his father when the arc happen to be at the exact stage for him to be deposed as a witness?
what are the chances of him being in the country at that precise moment?.
divine intervention?

Ooo Interesting thought.

Life is full of coincidences. I find that many things play out with near perfect timing.
It was a happy coincidence.
so as many know....ive been df'd goin on 19 years already.
i drive pops to meetings, and drop him off on saturdays for fs.. well yesterday, the elders ask to speak to me, and tell me that if i plan on returning to jehovah, i had better shave my beard off..
omg!!!!!!
Because if they saw fit to DF you, yet they see you at the hall, it MUST mean that you hope to return to their fold soon. Very soon.
They just cannot fathom that a person of the world, and especially a DF person (OMG!) would do a kind act just for the simple fact that is a kind act.
You are there to assist your father. Nothing more. But they get all tickled thinking you will soon beg to be reinstated.
Silly, silly guys, those elders are.
the disdain which the wtbts / gbojw has for higher education is well known among jw's and jw dissenters.
the specious rationale for such disdain is also well known.
however, it is a fact that there is no scriptural authority for..... a) prohibiting education at any level for another person.
been lurking around here for several weeks.
posted once or twice but not too much.
i'm a covert fade at the moment.

Seriously. Encourage this starting now.
Then start encouraging them to go to college - even a local Community/Junior College.
Start planning other family things to do on Saturdays and Sundays. Enough so they start missing Saturday Field Service one weekend and a Sunday meeting another weekend. The less JW-related activities they do, and the more 'normal' activities you provide for them, the better they will be able to start using their own critical thinking skills. At the very least, they will have better experiences to look back on than most of us who grew in staunch JW households.
Nice introductory post! Thanks for sharing.
I was a walk-away believer (got up in the middle of a Sunday talk because I felt a huge sense of hypocrisy from the platform and felt I was complicit with badness by sitting silent in my seat). I always thought that at some point in the future, the org would correct its' errant path and I would return at that time. Instead, 13 years later, I found Freeminds (Randy Waters' site) and JWN (This Site, owned and ran by Simon and Angharrad Green).
From this site (and Ray Franz's book Crisis of Conscience) THREE things convinced me the the JW organization would never right their wrong paths:
1. 607
2. Mexico/Malawi
3. UN NGO
These three things were deal-breakers for me. Grateful to learn "The Truth about the 'Truth'". Life is MUCH happier and much more precious with this important knowledge.

What can be said? It was absurd that he could be assigned to a position for which he would refuse to fulfill.
Who lets this happen? How dare the witness even accept the job knowing full well he would deliver sub-par performance.
Makes me angry.
major canadian tv show to discuss jw child
abuse scandal
this is to alert the jw world that a major tv documentary is set to go in canada on the jw child sex abuse issue.

Thanks for posting the link! It's working for me here in California. Seems it has been posted to YouTube by KimMikey.
is there a way to stop the advertisement videos that play when i am reading a thread?.
i don't remember this happening until this afternoon.
there is no 'pause' or 'stop' button to grab so i can silence the video and it slows down my system.. i don't mind static ads but the videos create stress on my computer system - and me!.
@Simon - Thank you. I went to google and changed my settings. The problem seems resolved.
Thank you!
