Didn't somebody break a foot at the last ApostaCrawfish Boil??
Was that you, Else??
Maybe you shouldn't be associating with them people so much...!!
I hope your treatment goes much smoother than expected.

i really can't believe it, but i made it throught the 5k, running the whole time, and no stopping.
i'm used to running on an even track and there were hills on this course.
holy crap, i thought i was gonna die at a couple of points.
CONGRATS!!
I missed the pre-event pep rally but I'm so happy for you...!!
Great accomplishment.

i've been a lurker for a few weeks and finally threw my hat into the ring a few days ago.
i've been out of the org for almost 30 years.
the whys and wherefores can wait for another time.
I am usually very patient. Maybe I got that from the JWs...
My own personal experiences, in/out/leaving JWs has also helped make me very tolerant of other people (most of the time).
Thanks for the post, parakeet. Welcome to JWD!

a good friend of mine is a former jw.
she is married to an active jw and her children are still jws.
her husband has demanded that they discuss why she is no longer willing to go to meetings, etc... she is wondering what subject would be the best to approach him with first.
I don't have time right now to read all the responses, but FreedomFrog is having similar discussion with her mom. You might have your friend read these threads for some ideas:

i'm looking for a few good suggestions for my upcoming birthday.. it's 3 months away but not too early to start planning...!!.
since i turned 40, i've tried to do something special - and a bit daring - for myself.
this year i don't know what i want to do... .
Hey Luna - I grew up in NJ and for the first 15 years that I lived in California, I would go back every year. Always would have to spend one day in the city. I LOVED it. I'd hop on a bus and walk everywhere. I enjoy the museums and libraries and would often catch a show mid-week.
My sister moved back there a few years ago. Seems that she's in city several times a month.
Isn't there a train that runs from CT to NYC?
A train trip...! THAT's something else to add to my Birthday List... Train trip up north or to SanDiego. Good Idea.

Happy Birthday, Farkel !

People who park right next to me when there is a parking lot full of empty spaces.
REALLY hate it when that person dings my car!
I often park off in the distance in parking lots and often up against a curb to reduce chance of getting dinged. One time I was sitting in my car for a few minutes before getting out. Red sports car pulls up right next to my passenger side and the driver hits my car with his door when he gets out. I get out and ask the guy 'why did you do that?' "Do what?" 'You dinged my car.' "No, I didn't." 'Yeah, you did. I was sitting right there. I felt and heard it!. And look! - Red paint on my white car. Right where your door opens to it.' "Oh. Gosh, sorry. I didn't realize."
I look around and point out ALL the spaces around me. 'There are 12 spaces available. Why not take any one of those????'
Ugggh! - Arrogant doctor.
*sigh* Ok I feel better now.

MissPeaches - *IF* i do the Karaoke thing - the drinks are a given!! No way I'd get thru that sober.
Is there anything your afraid of? Is there anything that seems insurmountable to you?
I'm not generally fearful. The biggest 'face your fear' thing I did was SkyDiving...
I could look into HangGliding, though. Hmmmmm Interesting.

OK Thanks you guys. This is a good start...
Virgochik - Trips and cruises are favorite activities. My passport is dusty and needs to taken somewhere far, far away. Just can't afford the extended time off this year. Pocketbook is a little strapped, too from recent move and home purchase. A weekend trip is definitely something to consider...
Looking Glass - Interesting. I will start a list and do some. But then what will I do next year if I do all 46 this year???
Mary - Ha Ha. You're so funny.
Luna2 - Definitely let me know if you think of something.
Dr Jekyll - Was that meant to be a joke or is it a DARE?? (I was actually thinking of something along these lines... Maybe not a whole weekend at a camp but there is a nude beach about 30 minutes from here. Could I just go topless? Could I even *DO* that???? UncleBruce optional.)
No pictures allowed, though.
Couple other ideas -
Get Sandy and a couple other exJW Meet-Up members to take me karaoking (sp?) since I've never really gotten up and sang myself.
Throw myself a birthday party - another first.
Get a Henna Tattoo - it's temporary. I'm not ready for permanent.
Treat myself to a day spa...
I'm off for a little stroll. Anybody have more ideas?? I'm pretty open to suggestions.
-Aude.
i may not post much cause i'm really busy with work and raising 3 grandkids but some times see posts i would like to comment on.
glad to meet all of you.. later, .
