i think some people actually use part of their real name.
i chose mine because i really feel 'in between', in that space where your not a jw anymore but really haven't figured out where you are in life and what path you want to take.
just thought it would be an interesting topic.
I was a walk-away believer, successfully faded.
Thought I would return some day when policies changed.
It took me over 13 years to even think about reading apostate material. One day I suddenly got an urge to google Jehovah's Witnesses. I spent 3 days (up all night) and even missed a day of work reading. I was fascinated but frightened, too. Eventually I made my way here and lurked. Then something was posted as a link and I was blocked because I had not registered. By this time I realized that I was on apostate sites but still frightened. I didn't want to give any personal info. I hesitated before registering.
My first alias here was: I_Dare because I Dared to register and keep reading and join an apostate site (although the blatant apostacy turned me off.)
One or two days later, I was reading something at work and there was reference to 'Aude Sapere' a latin phrase meaning: Dare to Know; Dare to Have Wisdom/Understanding. I changed my alias that night.

PS: I don't know the latin pronounciation, but I like to think of it as: Awe' dee
hey guys,.
i can't spend long but just want to say what a great time i'm having in america.
i'm in the middle of a thunder storm in manhattan, new york at the moment.
Santa Barbara's only a 45 minute drive for me.
Santa Monica is about an hour from here.
Let me know...!

the radio was used extensively in the 1920's and 1930's.
by 1933 the society was using 403 radio stations to broadcast bible lectures.
later, the use of the radio was largely replaced by increased house-to-house visits by witnesses with portable phonographs and recorded bible talks.
I remember listening to a radio program in the mid-70's that the society aired on a NYC station. It wasn't publicized much but I stumbled on it one morning (Sunday's, I think) and would wake up early to listen while still in bed.
I would be about 15 minutes of a skit and then about 15 minutes of lecture.
Really enjoyed it at the time.

Sometimes my brain fires on all cylinders. (Odd that my car has been dead for 3 days - but my brain is working.....)
Here's Terry's thread on same/similar topic. I like the discussion:

i have been successful at keeping my true feelings from my wife and others for more than 15 years.
i came to understand a long time ago that this was just the way things had to be.
but for the most part, i live my life the way i want to live it.

Isn't there a key-combination to quickly activate the screensaver? Seems I've seen it a few times.

There was a thread about this a few months ago. I found it very interesting and will post the link if I can find it. (Might have been Terry - dang, that man has a long list of threads and tons of posts...)

well, i been "living in sin" for about 5 days now and aside from an elder asking if i was gonna still do a talk i was scheduled for this past monday (i told him no of course.
he knows i moved out and only asked about my literature) i finally worked the nerve to download the application for this season's america's next top model.
i've been modeling for some time now and i figured what the hell...i have nothing to lose but $3.95 in postage.
Sounds like a great move as you start creating your life.
Really, what have you got to lose with applying?? Sounds like a fun experience...!
Best of luck!!!!
