He would wait till the week of summer convention was already taken, then demand the time off anyway
UUGGGGHH!! This used to steam me. I had a few young witnesses working for me back in the 80's when I was still seriously active.
Summer was our busiest season and they would ask for time off with only a few days notice. Fortunately, I knew the schedule of the all DCs in the area and would negotiate with them. I reminded them that they were told WELL in advance (5-6 months) and it was not at all acceptable to give their employer a lousy one or two days notice.
I encouraged all employees to provide adequate advance notice - for any reason. How much notice is too much notice?? I kept a calendar 3 years in the future. 3 and a half years notice would still be accomodated.
