my first post in this very interesting (indeed) forum is a request.
i was born and raised a jw (and wrote the goodbye letter to the elders some 4-5 years ago), but i live in scandinavia.
that means i'm not at all familiar with all the english/us terminology and abbreviations that you use over there.

as many of you know, audesapere (denise) had reconstructive knee surgery last wednesday.
the surgery ended up being quite a bit more involved then she originally anticipated.
she has approximately 5 more weeks walking with crutches and then i believe she will continue with physical therapy.. denise made it through the first several days post-op like a trooper!
(where is that deadbeat family of yours?)
*sigh*
just wondering if anyone wanted to say hi and maybe get some coffee, a beer, or dinner.. i am going to go visit my brother who is working there for a few weeks, i will arrive on saturday.
.
he is working at night so saturday night i might be free.. i am pretty fun and wouldn't mind meeting some of you evil apostates, lol.. i think he is staying offically in new jersey if that makes a diff.. pm me if you are interested.. oh, by the way i am really really ugly.
Some days I wish I was still living in NJ...
That was a fun night.

I had a good sleep last night and did some of my therapy. Feeling a little better today.
I was going to stay home from work but think I will go in for a few hours.
Part of the problem is that if I stay home and be totally compliant, use the crutches, 8+ hours a day of therapy, etc. I will go stir crazy. So I use the crutches part time (mostly just when I leave the house) and have shortened the therapy time (Unfortunately, didn't do any therapy on Tuesday and just 1.5 hours on Wednesday.)
The struggle is more in my head and emotions than in my body. It will be in my pocketbook, too, very soon.
I want to do some work from home (and it's completely doable - I sit at a desk on the phone all day) but, following all the corporate changes last week, it's forbidden. I didn't want to take FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) but it may be forced on me and will result in an 80% reduction in my pay for these three weeks. I'm not getting a straight answer from anyone in HR about this. 80% reduction even though I'm covering all my own work and working 4-6 hours a day? The lack of a straight answer is making me crazy in the head.
It's time to look for new employment (in June I will have been with this company for 5 years). Many are leaving. I was hoping to ride out the storm because I think it will be much better after things settle but the stress and financial strain right now are just too much.
Also, how do I even start looking for work while I'm semi-incapacitated?
Thank you all for your words of encouragement. Sorry I can't thank each of you personally.
Megsmomma - Thank you.
Dansk - Funny. I am a hobbler lately.

Thanks, FreeChick for doing this thread. I'm just really struggling this week and feeling pretty overwhelmed and helpless (not like me at all).
I appreciate all the well-wishes, too.
Time to just go lie down and rest now, I think.

dear new ones,.
sometimes you post your first post in the middle of a thread, and you slip by without being properly "welcomed"!
so we want to welcome you and thank you all for stepping forward, for sharing your comments and your stories.
There sure *are* alot of you newbies!! Welcome to each of you.
Can't wait to hear your stories...
A shorter version can be to edit your profile and give brief synopsis in the 'Biography' section. Just a thought. (HINT: you can find out about some of us by looking there. Unfortunately I have nothing in my bio yet... Sorry!)

my wife of 27 years is about to pass away, she's requested do not revive or resuscitate, and she is no longer conscious.
her sister wants to put which church she's been attending in her obituary, i don't want to make things difficult for my jw mother, (she knows about our fade) by other jws.
I'm so sorry. I had no idea.
Do you *have* to mention a church?? Can you just skip over that part and mention family members and people who have been supportive during her illness??
I don't know obituary protocol. Just a thought.

"how is your heart?
the heart, nevertheless, is intricately connected with the brain by the nervous system and is well supplied with sensory nerve endings.
the sensations of the heart are recorded on the brain.
I remember sitting in the audience at either Mets Shea or Yankee Stadium for that talk. There were giant replicas of both a brain and a heart on the stage.
What can I say? I was 11 and easily steered.
