Feeling ultra-special. I thought was part of a select group that was proving themselves to be better than the rest of humanity.

i keep hoping and doing searches on the site for people in my area.
so far no one i recognize.
i have a few df'd friends that i lost touch with long before they were out (two who were elders actually when they got the boot) and would love to find out they were on here, but don't know if they plan on coming back.
Oubliette - you have a pm.

Three that I can think of. Feels like I'm forgetting one other one...
First was a long-time poster [outnfree] mentioned my family's name in a congregation thread. My parents had studied with her sister. She studied with another woman in our cong.
Second was I stupidly mentioned someone's real name in a non-private bethelite thread. That person has a unique name and professional customers that googled his name saw my thread and asked him about it. He decided to check out this site, found me and I apologized profusely and had the offending post removed. (I think this actually worked out well, in the end. But I was sure embarrassed to have outed him in the first place.)
Third was someone who's house I was assigned to for bookstudy. We both posted in the same thread something unique about one of our elder's famous children. From our posts, it was clear that we were in the same hall at the same time.
Another few people knew people from my old halls but did not know me (and I did not know them).
I keep looking for more people that I might know; still hoping to find more old friends.

http://wqad.com/2014/03/11/family-of-missing-man-hoping-for-the-best/.
very scary ...in the passed few months two adult men ,and one woman have all gone missing .
one of the men was found in the river after several weeks .
That's a sad update. The only upside is that he was found so quickly. We had someone go missing in our congregation back in the early 90's. She was 'missing' for 19 months before her body was found. It was really, really rough on family and friends as you can't put closure on a missing person.

court rejects missionary lawsuit against netanya schools for voiding leasethe tel aviv magistrates court has rejected a claim by a missionary group, saying that the school they had been renting space in unlawfully voided their contract , and asking the court to instruct the school to pay nis 108,000 in compensation and mental anguish, as well as legal expenses.. it began when a missionary group, via a non-profit organization called "mitzpe l'yisrael", rented space at the raziel school in netanya to conduct daily afternoon activities.
shortly after signing the rental agreement , the school authorities discovered that the group was, in reality, the notorious missionary sect of "jehovah's witnesses".
Very interesting. Thanks for posting this.

i saw the lack of love and could not believe it.
Apogno wrote: and since death is temporary to them, they don't think that a death needs to be mourned -- when it's of someone they don't know, anyway. Of course if it was their own loved one, they would feel quite differently.
Even then, hard core witnesses may not mourn family. My hard-core JW mother did not attend her own mother's funeral. She did not see the need to travel cross-country. I was the only one of my immediate family who attended.

hello jwn!
i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.
i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.
A choice between two great offers? What a great problem to have~!!
Congrats on making your dreams come true *and* ThankYou for sharing your excitement with us~!!
