Danny's sixth birthday wish? Lots of cards

Carley Nickerson says all her son wants for his sixth birthday are some birthday cards.

A birthday card, she says, is a thoughtful gesture to let Danny know that someone is thinking of him on his special day and will make him feel important and loved.

But July 25 is no ordinary birthday for Danny Nickerson, and his mom wants the community to help him celebrate.

Danny was diagnosed last October with an inoperable brain tumor called DIPG, formally known as diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, for which there is currently no cure. According to thecurestartsnow.org, DIPG is one of the most resistant forms of all cancers to chemotherapy treatments. Less than 10 percent of DIPG children will live longer than 18 months from diagnosis, and survival is even more rare.

Yet, the Nickersons remain hopeful.

"Every day is a blessing to us," Carley says.

Though she admits that at times it is hard to remain so positive, the family does its best to ensure that Danny gets to experience as many fun things as possible, including beach trips, visits to the zoo, ice cream dates and family movie nights.

Carley says that the main goal is to bring Danny happiness during this difficult time and is reaching out to the people of her hometown of Foxboro, as well as people from surrounding communities, to help do just that by sending Danny birthday cards to help him celebrate his sixth birthday.

"Danny's birthday means so much to us this year ... He loves going to the mailbox and finding mail with his name on it," she says.

Danny's birthday is next Friday, July 25, and all cards can be sent to the Nickerson's home addressed to Danny himself: Danny Nickerson, P.O. Box 212, Foxboro, MA 02035.

forgive me for indulging in a goodbye but it would feel wrong not to,.

i hope the discussions and atmosphere here do not change for it is a bubbling brew of doubt, bravery and sincere hunger for answers.

these are healthy ingrediants for humans and especially for a jehovah's witness.. this forum offers not just the ability to ask without consequence, but it also offers the means to be real.

"Witness to Murder" an upcoming program on US TV about a JW family will air August 20th...

i was informed yesterday that a us cable tv channel named investigation discovery will be broadcasting a 7-part series named "deadly devotion.

" one program in the series is "witness to murder" which will air wednesday evening, august 20th, probably at 9 p.m. est.

check the schedule on the internet which lists the date and time of broadcast two-weeks ahead.

i'm trying to fade away from the jw religion fully aware of ttatt .

my wife is still under mind control of this cult and teenager 14 years old attending most of the meetings an some ministry arrangements but is not interested and going just to please mum.

i actively educate my son about about other cults and their practices and he knows i don't believe that wt has anything to do with god.

Telling your child straight out that his mother is under mind-control or in a cult will undermine her authority and his respect.

Slow and steady here, is my best suggestion.

So Happy to Learn About Homemade Weed Killer

three days ago we mixed up the recipe and sprayed the driveway cracks and several places where the weeds have been hard to get rid of.. today the weeds are dead just like when we've sprayed commercial weed killer.. mix one gallon white vinegar, 1 cup salt, 5 to 6 tablespoons of dawn dishwashing liquid.

note: don't spray if it's fixin' to rain, wait for dry weather so the stuff will stay on the weeds.

and don't spray where you want anything to grow ever!.

The INTJ Personality Type, (and those close to it)

i am compelled to write a bit about this at this late hour here in the us, because it is keeping me up.. the recent four year old thread on the briggs myers personality type test that was dug up, produced an interesting finding.

many here, (at least tested informally for), the intj personality type.

intjs also do not understand irrational behavior particularly well at all.. why does this matter?

I took the Briggs-Myer test about 20 years ago for work. I also scored as INTJ. At the time I was a full-fledged witness.

Several years later, as I started college and at the same started to distance myself from the org, I tested differently. I don't remember how I scored, but it might have been ISTP. I questioned the results at the time but did not get satisfying answer as to how I could have different results. I had forgotten about that until now.

I might re-take the test and see where I place at this stage in life.

Is it normal for people to change like that? I have not read the other thread so might do that soon, as well.
