  Is God real to you?

  in a recent topic someone mentioned how much they have drifted from god since they "left the jw's.".

  as someone brought up in the org (inactive for several years)i have found this to be similiar in my case.

  i don't know how much i believe the fan/plug analogy (remember that in the live forever book?

  ***some may argue whether there is a god or not, but one thing is for sure if there is a god then he has been sitting on the front porch drinking iced tea while his kids have been down here on earth getting the shaft-***

  LOL that was brilliant! History and logic directs this conclusion.

  I still believe in an Almighty Creator...one far different from the gods promoted by organized religion. To me, God put this whole universe and everything in it into operation..self sustaining as it is..with intricate care and design. Having done so, he may be right at this moment, being doing likewise somewhere else in the great infinity of space.

  Why must man box him into being the problem solver. Could it be that since he left no clear operations manual, that man frustrated and angry with his creator, decided to manufacture a guide(bible) and through its pages, express his (mans) rage at the silence of his maker?

  I tend to think Moses, Daniel, David, Christ, Paul and other bible contributors, all reflect expressions of 'seeking' as well as, we have been given God's own words...we talk...we know what God is really like.

  This makes God somewhat of a remote personage, but it is the only answer I can come up with.

  By the way I still find myself seeking him in prayer. Go figure.

  this forum seems to be a friendly group, not to mention i see jt, englishman, focus, waiting and few others that are very familiar to me from h20.. i live in california.

  i was raised as a jw (third generation), got the unceremonious 'boot'(df)in 1980-81 been so long..i can't remember the actual date.

  Hello Wendy,

  Leaving the 'brotherhood' is no easy task if on one's own, not to mention the devastation it causes a large family. Yes the scars are long lasting and only fade with time, never disappearing.

  It is the reason so many of us continue to seek out othere, who have experienced like treatment. Unless you have been there, you simply can't relate.

  Thanks for your welcome. H20 provides one aspect of JW discussion, but it sometimes lacks common decency and mutual respect. While lurking here, I noticed that everyone pretty well spoke their minds, without resorting to personal attacks and name calling. I prefer this style. Even when it comes to dealing with Sir Fred Hall...you guys have all treated him with respect...he has spoken more words at one time here..than he ever spoke at H20 in years.

  Hope your pain subsides, loss of loved ones is such a waste...if we keep pointing out how stupid it all is...just maybe one of our loved ones will wake up. Hope springs eternal...so 'they' say.

  the very first scripture cited under the "sharing on a judicial committee" in the elders book is duet.

  1:16. here are a million questions!

  how do members let the higher -ups use a scripture from the ot where moses was speaking to isreal, and completely disregard jesus' words?

  It is only natural that the WTBS latch on to Paul's version of christianity. He was a practicing Pharasee and a violent defender of the faction.

  If you read his commentary with these thoughts in mind, it is obvious that he was a stickler for rules, even though he, or some scribe/copier.....tempered his words with so-called love. Just like
  CT Russell, Rutherfraud, Franz, Knorr....Paul jumped right into the expanding and amplifying the words of Christ...to suit his own agenda and personal self importance. Paul was a very successful evangelizer, so was Joseph Smith, and all the other johnny come lately, self appointed spokesman for God.

  That is why I can hardly abide any religious zealot. Let alone the organization or camp they aline themselves with. They all including Paul, presume God Almighty...should do just what they pronounce. Horsepebbles!

  Whew...got that off my chest eh?

  Well said.

  Doesn't it strike these doomsayers, that the Almighty Creator who would surely understand....man's weaknesses, heavy baggage inherited from our ancestors, brain qwirks, abuse, poverty, and all that we helpless humans have endured....to be reason in itself to not act in such a 'facist' way? I just don't get it.

  Of course they (fundies)will have umpteen scriptures to point to...supposedly proving that the above statement is made by someone without sprituality. Bullpucky I say...they are the ones without true insight regarding the Creator. Presumption and man inspired doctrine starting way back with CT Russell...Mr. Pyramid...the WTBS continues the cycle of mindwarping 'doublespeak'. They are deluded and braindead.

  Zazu when I lived in San Francisco, we went to see a live performanc of the ZazuPitts Band...they were a real trip...wild and crazy eh?

  Yes you are right, even though we have been away from the cult for twenty years...it brands your sphycee forever. Not to mention your entire family relations...I have neither seen nor spoken to two of my own sisters in all those years. Is that disfunctional or what?

  TR went over to the 'sex' board and read the bio's there. Waiting you are a sneeky one...he ha.

  Prisca think maybe the society's growth has been somewhat tied to, 3rd, 4th and even 5th generation members? How many 'bible studies' that you conducted, ever went so far as baptisim...in my 30yrs as a witness I can count on one finger. Yep my claim to fame, was uno, one convert...after years of pioneering, serving where the need was great, etc etc.

  Roaming I was telling those guys on the other board, about Simon's place....nice to have a choice...H20 is no longer the ultimate destination.

  Ozzie you ole sod you. Really glad to see you posting here. I will carry the mic...do odd(!) jobs...'thank you master member'...maybe someday I will shed this mantel of 'newbieisim'.

  I live in California. I was raised as a Jw (third generation), got the unceremonious 'boot'(df)in 1980-81 been so long..I can't remember the actual date. All of my immediate family are still very active, including my two daughter's. One of my three sisters is the wife of a DO. My nephew is in the legal department at Bethel. I come from a family whose roots go back to Judge Rutherford...both of my parents slaveing (serving) under da judges..iron fist.

  Just wanted to give you a little background, before barging in on your community.

  did anyone save the article where jr brown states that elders are volunteers and untrained and that male jw who hold no positions are spiritually lacking.

  Sometimes it is nice to visit with new friends on new turf. I have pretty much camped out at H20...but you know how that place is, it can get pretty steamy from time to time. There are several boards to choose from...all of which seem to have their own personality. Fun to have a choice eh?

  Hello JT,

  I thought of you when reading that article. Pretty heady eletisim isn't it? Imagine all the sincere brother's loyal, attending every meeting, 10hr plus a month in service, who are like Sir Freddy and never get appointed to anything....what a downer.

  They promote and foster an atmosphere of politics and backside smooching...even more than your average 'legitimate' business entity.

  Poor deluded souls..gotta feel sorry for em.

  Nice to see you found a new home. This is my first post here.
