Simon,
What you say may be true. It is the tone, the "real nicey, eh".........that could have and should have been left out.
Iam done with the whole affair.

Ps Much to the delight of everyone Iam sure.
to those of you who have had the misfortune of receiving mr. bowen's silentlambs newsletter.
unfortunately mr. bowen feels the need to lie to you all, and slander the name of abuse survivors he claims to protect and serve.
a copy of his most recent attack is below my short response.

Hawk,
There must be a course in law school titled, 'condescending and trite', from your response to Rev Malk, it is obvious you passed with flying colors.
Ever heard of the old expression 'one pay check away from the poor house'? Are you so far removed from money worries, that you can't fathom someone in the Rev's state of mind at the time he made the 'financial ruin' comment?
Instead of grinding the guys nose in it, maybe a little empathy is warranted. Imo the Rev has done and said far more to deserve this consideration, than any of the other protagonists involved.

"and let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom.....".
i didn't go to the meeting today (again) and i felt dreadful.
my family went and i stayed behind.
rebel,
It takes years to deprogram your brain cells.
Half or more of the attendee's at every KH across the globe, recite Hebrews when considering thier own lack of interest in attending the meetings. Why do you think the wtbs keeps repeating the admonition and that particular scripture so much?
It is one of the most incidious, cultlike, methods known. Inspire guilt, people will do almost anything to relieve it. What else would inspire so many to act like robots? Certainly not anything said from the pages/platform. Most of the stuff is rehashed time after time............even so called 'new light' is now considered by most jw's as old news, perhaps with a new slant or different application, but it is all regurgitated Freddie Franz, in one way or another.
It saddens me to read how much folks like you and Sentinel have given, to satisfy the whims of some old codgers in Brooklyn, who don't have the sense to see that thier own flock is wilting away from the burdens they continue to apply.
Prior to 1975 there was a real urgency to attending meetings (thanks again to Freddie), after 1995 reversal of the bedrock doctrine of 1914, you tell me what urgency is there? They have nothing to offer anymore............just re, rewarmed, and rewarmed again, same ole repetitive nonsense. Is it a wonder you don't want to go?
I hope you just decide to stop feeling guilty.........because no one else can do it for you. It is a milestone when you get there........... and you will.
Danny
i've taken note that the person that goes by the name "outlaw" continues to post daily.
yet, he hasn't entered the thread whose title bears his very own name.
yes, conveniently, outlaw skips past a thread that calls him to account for the lie he spoke about yadirf.
Postman is going 'postal' again!
having read the exchanges between rev, bill bowen, and others involved in the silent lambs website, i honestly feel sickened.
i remember when i first started to hear rumblings that "something big" was going down regarding the society's handling of child abuse.
i was overjoyed because i had first-hand knowledge of several atrocities in this regard and was hoping against all odds that a major upset would force them to change their policies.
The Hardanger Fiddle | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
What is a Hardanger fiddle? hardingfele) is often called the national instrument of Norway. It is similar to the violin and each one is a handmade work of art. A typical hardingfele is beautifully decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay and black pen-and-ink drawings, called rosing. It is topped with a carved head of a maiden (see photo below) or, more frequently, of an animal, usually a lion. Its most distinguishing feature is the four or five sympathetic strings that run underneath the fingerboard and add echoing overtones to the sound. The traditional playing style is heavily polyphonic. A melody voice is accompanied by a moving "drone" voice. Together, the instrument and the playing style create the for which the Hardanger fiddle is famous. The instrument probably originated in the area around the Hardanger fjord of Norway -- from whence comes the English language name. The oldest known fiddle, the "Jaastad Fiddle", was made by Olav Jonsson Jaastad from Ullensvaang and may date from as early as 1651. By the mid-1700s the Hardanger fiddle had become the dominant folk instrument in much of the inland south-central and western coastal areas of Norway. It is one of the few European folk music traditions which has survived the assaults of cultural change and foreign musical influences to continue nearly unchanged up to the present day.
Researchers in hardingfele music have notated over 1,000 distinct tunes, or slttar, for the instrument. Each tune has a history and lineage, transmitted as carefully as the tune itself. The folklore surrounding the music has also been handed down for generations. Stories abound of the prowess of particular fiddlers or dancers, of the connection of fiddling with the supernatural, and of the joys and sorrows of everyday life, all connected with the music of the Hardanger fiddle in a living web. |
So whats the point my english gentry fellow?

Englishman,
What the hell is a 'Hardanger fiddel'?

after seven years we finally got a call from an elder this morning.
he wants to come over and talk to steve (he wouldn't talk to me or give me any message).
this particular elder was from steve's old congregation in austin, texas.
Princess,
Even if it is high noon in the blazing mid-day sun..................turn on all your ornamental lights!
If he/they can get up enough gumption to even approach the door, you will be in control. They will not even have to ask any of thier stupid "are you" questions........they may not even bother to knock.

after reading these quotes from wt literature, you have to wonder if someone at the wt overdosed on the good ol' prozac!
what is your explaination?.
mans salvation, page 45, paragraph 3 .
Scully,
Shameful joy. I missed that one, so glad you linked to it. That was brilliant!
Unfortunately, jw member's seem to be the one's turning to mind altering drugs like Prozac, to cope with the reality of being a jw.
The 'boys in writing' only continue to fuel the anxiety and guilt, required to keep the r&f in a perpetual state of 'keen awareness'. God forbid a jw ever, ever, relax his/her guard about the 'end of this system' or the prospect of 'blood flowing' in the streets at Har-Magedon!
No wonder they need and require prozac, or at least allow themselves to drink. If the GB decided to get tough on drinking and drunkeness, half the elder's, and congregations would be df'd.

It's ok, my ladies birthday, her father's, and a few other family member's are in December, so we deal with it. Party, party!
You can tell from Dana's words, that she values your friendship and association......well she is not the only one!
Both of you inspire other's by your kindness and insights into the human condition.

elderrepents,
I loved 'halva' and do remember puff pastries. Garlic being the operative memory trigger, both in the kitchen and sitting next to the Greek brother's in the hall.
Of course my interests in cuisine at the time, centered more around 'Tommy's' hamburgers (anyone from L.A knows why)and the heavenly chili they were doused in. Of course Burrito King was another 'hole in the wall' LA joint that offered 'machaca burritos' to die for.
