I tried to qualify my statement of belief in God Gumby........where I indicate that it is nothing more than 'faith'. Also I have no evidence to prove that it was in fact God answering ANY of my prayers.

So as is true with anyone who expresses 'faith' in something........Paul said it best 'assured expectation of things not seen'....did I just quote a scripture?

I have no proof, just my own, like Mr Kim expressed, knowledge or understanding from observation and experience. Yes my background had a considerable affect on my chosen faith........I have to admit it.

Perhaps the idea of god started with a two year olds question of where they come from. Why, why, why, is sufficient irritation for any parent to cop out the answer 'god did it'. Could that be where the whole concept of god got started?

Can't see how anyone can take exception to this statement. To bad those who feel they have to witness, give their own particular message don't follow your lead.

I don't know if my beliefs will hold up when facing the great void of nothingness, but for now Iam sticking to it.

Mr Kim,

You have fallen into the same quagmire most bible believer's find themselves.......the assumption that if someone does not believe in The Bible..he/she does not believe in God.

This assumption does not apply to me. I have never lost my 'faith' (note the word) that God exsists. I just do not buy the god as described in the bible, book of mormon, quran, etc.

I do not find it hard to seek God in prayer. Yet to this day cannont for any sureity claim he has answered any of my inquiries. Yet I tend to believe he has.

It is the wanton disrespect shown by 'the true believer's' who espouse their version of 'faith' as the only 'way' to salvation, that offends me.

The need for them to make up all sorts of exuses for their god of the bible, is pathetic and less than inspiring.

23 yrs ago I would have agreed.

Seems very strange to me that the god of the bible would respond intimately direct/indirectly with the writer's, contemporaries, of the 'inspired word of God'........yet chose to ignore modern man's question filled mind, as to his very exsistance.

Why is it so difficult to undestand that the ancient societies involved in the recording of events in the bible, were by default of their very time and circumstance part and parcel of mankinds inclination to believe in direct contact with their gods?

Floods, pestilence, warfare, edicts of god's, snakes, animals of all sorts, all playing heavily in the mix of worship of every ancient society. Why should the ancient nation of Isreal have been any different?

If Jah of Armies could write down his edicts on a stone tablet to Moses and his relatives.......get it?

The SILENCE is deafening, the amiguity of this god of David, this awesome being so extolled in the pages of the book compiled over 3000yrs during which mankind was steeped in myth, legend, stories, should be enough for any thinking person to question it's claim to fame.

Sorry Mr. Kim, cannot accept the tried and true....'wait on Jehovah'.......'in God's due time'.....'nobody knows the day or the hour'.............

Throughout history whenever man labels something holy, god's spoken word, inspired.....it opens the floodgates of pure speculation, interpretation and outright guesses.

Every form of religion suffer's the same origin and end result.

Today on this board, educated men are debating the orgin of Hebrew and Greek words, to support one guess or another about a religious tome.

When I read these debates now, I can only laugh at the absurdity of the whole drama. It is mankind legacy of folly and gullibility. Worthless endeavor imo.

franz stated something in this mind-blowing book which was definitely true for me.. he stated (this is a poor paraphrase) that very early on during a "study", witnesses can easily show what's in the bible regarding god's name, the condition of the dead, living on paradise earth, etc.

once these are proven to a person's satisfaction, when the study moves on to more complicated matters, it is just easier to accept what isn't understood on the basis that so far, everything has seemed true.

Religion in general is designed ot offer the 'yellow brick road' of promises and rewards. Jw's seem to have refined it even more. Offering wonderful promises, yet at the same time deflating the individual ego (self worth) to the point of total reliance on the religion for every bit of joy or satisfaction in life.

There is no wonder why we can safely ID the wtbs a very destructive CULT!
