  Do You Remember...

  i just got home from a dinner sponsored by the senior citizens counsel, an organization funded by the taxes of our city and county.

  they have many programs to benefit the senior people in our area.

  i hate to admit it but i qualify.

  Admiration here for your ability to abstain from sharing a sip or two of the 'merlot'.....during the 45min interlude before dinner! Abstaining from the pure ecstasy of a fine 'cuban' is unforgivable imo. lol.

  The simple pleasure of sharing a movie and dinner with friends, unclouded by guilt over what rating the movie was, who will see me...
  on and on, makes life worth living. As Jw's we moved around, spoke words, did our chores, but were kind of like ghosts...no substance, trying to survive on a completely different plain than those nasty 'worldly' ones.

  Texas steak 11/2 thick...got my juices flowing.

  well guys, i've done it now!

  our whole little town has a sale every june and this one was no exception.

  while hubby was watching our sale, my oldest daughter and i walked around the neighborhood to see what we could filch out of our neighbors renderings.

  Yes dear one, the 'little tea pot' story tell a volume. Anyone besides a former cult member, would read your story...shaking their head in complete befuddlement. Afraid of a church rummage sale? Demonized 'tea pots"? What's that you say? LOLROFLMAO!!!

  Oh my auntie, we were pathetic to say the least! I so much can relate, it hurts. Every day brings some new sense of freedom from tyrany and repression. Every day away from the 'clouds of doom and gloom' bring new pleasures, never even imagined as a Jw drone.

  Your little story just made my evening!

  We all share more than we allow ourselves to admit. Must remind myself of that the next time....I feel inclined to call that So and So poster...bastard...idiot...stupid...But I love ya anyway former brother/sister slave. Like it or not, we are forever tied...by our Watchtower past.

  Turning the Tables

  no conclusions, just thoughts.. should we disfellowship all of our friends and family who are jehovah's witnesses in order to protect ourselves and in order to wake them up to see how dangerous a path they are on?.

  When you are first df'd, da'd, or dissed or whatever, you are pretty much numb, almost in shock.

  In my case I went through a period of time, whereby I felt unworthy of any association. The indoctrination works very well..for awhile. After you come out of the daze, and begin to realize the sham of it all, you are less and less tolerant of their disrespectful manner.

  Why should I worry, its been over 20 yrs since speaking or laying eyes on two of my three sister's and family.

  It's their turn.

  Enjoyed your comments regarding Kevin. It seems that all of us ponder the very same feelings about 'bliss' and reality.

  That is what makes the 'religon' so incidious and vile. It saps the living juices outa you. It befuddels the mind with a huge amount of 'guilt trips' and 'gotta dos'...which one can really never be free of.

  Always enjoy your writing. As Uncle Bruce said...your essay regarding your little daughter's expressions of love, was pricless. You should take his advice and repost that gem.

  I hope my response to Prisca helps you understand my comments.

  I have intimate knowledge of what childhood abuse can do to one's adulthood. It does seem to be a hidden crime, that has it's effects on all of us. No one is immune.

  Hello Prisca,

  Abuse of any form is dispicable whether perpetrated on young or old.

  What makes child abuse so repulsive, is the inability of the victim to defend him/herself from the attacker. Pure child-like innocence lost at the hands of such, is almost on a par with murder. Killing someones spirit, can last a lifetime. Believe me Prisca I in no way, by any of my comments, meant or mean to infer, that pedophilia is somehow less important than other cirmes.

  My comments were directed toward, what appears to be a 'mob mentality' developing among some poster's.

  Let me explain what I mean. I have daughter's, sister's, nephew's, niece's, who are still very active as JW's. When SL (for a very good cause) promotes his website information (excellent info) by mass distribution of 'one liner' snipits in newspapers all over the country, intimating CHILD MOLESTORS AT YOUR DOOR, painting with a broad stroke...(a false premise by the way), that there is a strong possiblity that when a Jehovah's Witness knocks on your door he/she may well be such a criminal...it is going to far. It is not fair by any standards.

  If he wants to promote an actual case, or direct attention to a specific crime, so be it. But to do what he is doing is not, imo, an honest campaign. It smacks of sensationalism, putting in jeopardy those majority of jw's innocent of any such crime.

  All of the above coupled with attending a meeting, just to stir things up, caused me to voice my concerns. It is the organization that is responsible for any bad attitudes, displayed by the rank&file, I simply think we should not be to hasty about sicking the dogs on those whose only sin, maybe they happen to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

  And as Teejay commented on.... SL's abuse encountered at the meeting, is no different than what thousands upon thousands of df'd, trying to get reinstated go through, on a daily basis. No secrets here.

  Prisa, I hope my explanation makes sense. This subject is not a very pleasant one...but I know that many feel deeply about it.

  Jan,

  If my memory serves me well, there is only one truly public meeting sponsored by the local KH. That is the Public Talk usually held on Sunday's. All other meetings are for the r&f, with visitors welcome to attend.

  Maybe that has changed, but I think it is still in effect.

  For one who admires freedom, remember that applies to expression of idea's as well. You are taking my comments way to seriously.

  I agree overall with what you have to say. You do seem to have an inside track on Bro Bowens mindset. I applaud your fervor, but must take acception to someone telling me what another's motivations are. I think Silentlambs can speak for himself. And he has.

  So we will agree to disagree on this one Outnfree. Does not mean that we cannot still be friendly, just have different outlooks.

  Your response to all of the above was classy. No snipits or puns no condemning. That in itself says a whole lot to me. Thanks for that response.

  Until this 'attended meeting thread' I have not participated in many of these discussions. For a couple of basic reasons.

  I believe that the issue of pedophilia within the confines of WTBS is important, requiring those aware of such to take action. Is the WTBS worse than any other religous entity, as regards this crime? No.
  Catholics, Baptists, you name it....sexual predators prowl...and overall the religous heiarchy all try to suppress the info. So for ex-jws to latch onto this ONE aspect, of the WTBS overall evil promulgated, is to minimize the whole package of SHIT they disperse.

  I really get tired of hearing from politicians and social worker's 'its all for the children'. Children are children only for a very short time. They have an inate ability to withstand tremendous traumas and physical abuse and then recover. Although they pull at your heartstrings, and they are so dependent and need protection....their plight as potential victims of pedophilia, are no where's near the damage being wrought by the 'towers' teaching on shunning ..... its effect on millions of people world wide.

  Suicides, depression, broken families, and ripple effects that go on for generations.

  Hope this helps you to understand some of my comments.
