i was thinking about some of the old jw urban legends that we grew up with and believed in as jws.
most of the ones i remember revolved around stories about demons, and jws being "attacked" when they would do something wrong.
some of these legends scared the crap outta me when i was little.

One thing for sure when dealing with Gumby Bastard.......fruitages of the spirit take on a whole new meaning.
Of course I never really had any of those, even when I was a sanctified, spirit appointed, so called shepherd of the flock.
Now 'dopey' seems to be the most inspired of all those fruitages you mention.

i'm in a bit of a state at the moment, my wife has just left me about 30 mins ago and took the kids...i don't know where.... ok, some of you long-timers may remember the problems i had with my son ben, who decided that the jw religion wasn't for him about a year ago.
i supported him as best i could through that and he's developed into a fine young man with a more healthy spiritual attitude, investigationg a number of christian churches in the area and finally settled on church of england, which he really likes now.. although no longer a christian myself i have no objection to them pursuing whatever religious path they choose (obviously within reason).
that has been the case with all of my children: ben, 15, charlotte, 14 and chloe, 12. i have never attempted to stop my wife taking them to the meetings although i have voiced to them privately my concerns about the religion.

Iam with Gumby on this. In fact keep a printed copy of this story, it should work wonders with any Judge worth his robes.
To allow religion to upset children in this manner is worse than anything she may have written down about your supposed sins.
Sometimes fanatics bury themselves, without even realizing. My ex jw wife did so in our divorce. She acted like an ass, and the judge saw through it. He ended up giving her nothing she asked for, then proceeded to award the minimum amount of child support. All because she thought she was on 'gods' side.
So take heart my friend, its not always as bad as it seems.

Geez that was depressing. Not to mention you couldn't even drop a nickel in the slots, without a shit load of guilt. What a way to kick off a marriage. Very sad story. But one that is repeated often Iam sure.
Your account of leaving your two son's crying in the driveway was de ja vu for me. In my case it was a 9yr and 4yr old daughter. Both crying their eye's out, calling DADDY don't go. The biggest cry of my life. I hopped in my pickup (sorry no porche) and drove to Vegas........what happened there Iam not telling right now anyway.
Dave your story should help many lurkers get a handel on their lives as jw's. It is a fact that many go through their lives as jw's blinded by the obvious. Your efforts here may well help them break free.

Brothers please get your stories straight will ya. Freddie's reaction to my query was nothing like you described. As I remember he simply removed a particularly scuffy ole brown shoe, examined it carefully and proceeded to throw it at me.
Upon examining the shoe, it was evident that Mr Franz had chosen this shoe very carefully, it was encrusted with old Brooklyn Heights dog poo dating back to December 1975. Also the tounge of the shoe had stenciled the word RIGHT in bold black letter's.
Something very strange tho, the shoe did smell like bbq'd New York Hoagies.

Your description of Freddie and his shoes was just hilarious. He was some looney, yet everyone just worshiped the little man. Even Knorr a sophisticated stufft shirt, was bamboozeled by the man. Mainly because Knorr did not know his '70yrs of desolation' from his '2520 days for a year'.......so its not to difficult to figure out why Freddie cast his spell.

is it disrespectful to those who believe.... for non-believers to say things against what believers hold so precious?
many have moved on, or..... mentioned they do not post their true feeling here on certain subjects for fear they will be harrassed by others here.. first off....i'll admit i'm a guilty one for doing this very thing but have been wondering if i'm out of line as well as others who post similar ideas in the same type of manner.

I really think that your honest comment is the crux of this whole discussion. From the time we reach the age of 2 or 3 we barrage our parents with questions, about everything.....I mean to the point of exasperation (for our parents anyway). Most loving parents will at least try and answer our questions......give us some 'alternative' to our most often unanswerable questions.
Religion may well have been invented, just to give parents a way out.
Perhaps the tradition of always having an answer, satiating the need to know, is why we seem to think there must be an answer. I have concluded that no one has any better 'alternative' then the next.
Instead of looking for an alternative perhaps we should be asking more questions..........without the expectation of getting THE RIGHT ANSWER. There may be none to be found.

Dave's summation of the tremendous damage done to us by the wtbs, is reason enough to, at the very least, examine any new, revised, amended version of what we were taught.
What KGB and others who become offended do not see, is that it is these so called 'bashing' comments will not be forthcoming from those we associate with in real life. We tend to surround ourselves with like minded friends, who would probably never offer much if any of the material found here.
Thats what makes this place valuable to us. If one can negotiate around here, without becoming defensive, angry, or hurt.......your on the road to being truly open minded. Otherwise might as well just go back to being a jw......I mean who does it hurt?

Nest time we would like to see you work on facial expressions, 'cup'led with some visual aids. This would allow KGB to clearly see what your theme was.
Tying the introduction, body, and conclusion together with a simple statement like 'in other words KGB is gathering up his toys and stomping out of the playground, this type of conduct should be avoided'.
