  who remembers it or worse, suffered from it?.

  I hesitate to be serious here, BUT:

  The one thing that immediately comes to mind about this is that elders had very specific definitions of what was/wasn't an act of porneia (in the Flock book, for example), which the "average" congregation member were totally ignorant of.....so in case after case, many folks learned to their total shock that they'd "gone over the line" (of WTBTS rules) without realizing it.

  Sort of like getting a ticket from a cop that tells you about a speed limit that's not posted. Absurd to say the least.

  Sadly, for me, just another example of outrageous stuff I participated in as an elder. I recall being "bothered" about this, but my dubbie-trained brain justified things by the 'ol "Mother Knows Best"....

  I TOLD AN ELDERS WIFE OFF YESTERDAY!

  just to give you a bit of background: i was diagnosed with uterine cancer a couple of years ago and had to have a hysterectomy.

  naturally i got more support from all my worldly friends and co-workers than what i did from people at the hall, but am used to that by now.

  anyway, a few days ago, someone from the hall told me that sister x (one of the elders wives who is a nosey, back-stabbing bitch) had been saying things about me like "she shouldn't have had a hysterectomy because that's showing disrespect for the reproductive organs that jehovah gave us" and that i apparently was "lacking in faith" by not "leaving it in jehovah's hand" and didn't i read that article in the botchtower or asleep!

  Sorry, but somehow, most of those types just keep on doin' it....when's the last time you heard of an elder's wife/busbody being called on the carpet for such stupid/ignorant/slanderous/hateful/unkind talk???? A rare thing IMHO.

  Er, I still think the flyers-on-the-windshields caper would be great! Let's see: The "flyer" could be from her, denying the "rampant" rumors of [fill in the blank].......Yes I know it would be stooping to her level, but it's fighting fire with fire.
