I've taken the liberty of constructing a series of images detailing in a visual format exactly how to navigate to that section of the UN's site,
Syn,

I have a feeling this may flow pretty rapidly thru jw-land, ...as they are notorious for gossip and being able to be the first to break news
That would be great, really if that were to happen. And certainly there will be talk.
My thought is that sometimes, the Witness "grapevine" is sometimes restricted when the information would be viewed as reflecting "negatively" on the organization. The earlier Watchtower spin about "We did it for a library card" will now be seen as baloney. And then, not all Witnesses have net access, and they may still be hesitant to checkout something on "The EVIL INTERNET" [Watchtower view].
An example that comes to mind is when all the "stuff" was going on at headquarters that Ray Franz and Randy Watters have detailed, I heard only the very faintest bits and pieces at the time, even years later (yes, I was a local elder who regularly hob-nobbed with CO's and DO's). After reading about the behind-the-scenes stuff that happened, I pieced together the bits and pieces I had heard and realized I had a few clues about the extent of what had gone on, but nothing like the complete picture.
Not trying to be negative here, just reflecting on my own experiences....and isn't this yet another example of the difficulty of REALLY reaching Witnesses.
I've been gone for around 4 years now, perhaps I'm not in tune now, (or maybe wasn't in tune then LOL).
Personally, I'm making up a written cover letter of explanation and mailing it, along with a printed copy of the UN letter to all the Witnesses I have addresses for.
I hope this situation moves every single Witness everywhere in the whole world to stop, think, and LEAVE.

Right now, its just after 5:00 PM PST, and those UN pages are really loading slow....it delights me to think that the reason is probably all the hits they're getting, rather than some other problem

When we send this out, I suggest we consider sending a link to this page on the UN website: (instead of a direct link to the PDF file)
http://www.un.org/dpi/ngosection/current.htm
and instruct the recepient to choose "Other Documents", then choose "Watchtower Bible and Tract Society"
Try it out yourself.....
My thought is that sending a link directly to the PDF file may raise questions in the minds of some who aren't particularly literate about how websites work, links, etc. My thought is that this route clearly shows that the Watchtower document is a part of the UN website....
Just my two cents...
[Edited to add: Sorry Grits, we posted at the same time, with similar ideas...]

This is great news, isn't it?
My oh my. Wonderful.
Everyone think: "ADV"......remember what that stands for? Hmmm? (with slight adjustment) Advertise, Advertise, Advertise the Watchtower and the UN Connection.....

FWIW: Here's an interesting comparison: (assuming of course that she really did trade on the insider info as orginaly alleged)
Martha Stewart is reportedly worth 3 Billion US Dollars, and she "saved" herself around $53,000 by dumping her stock "early"....that would be like someone who is worth only 1 Million dollars saving around $18.......and the comparison becomes even more ridiculous when you consider a net worth less than the million dollars LOL.

for me, the walls of the watchtower were not destroyed by a single giant cannon-ball but rather every brick had been weakened and suddenly the whole thing just 'collapsed'.. i've alwys been an avid reader and a firm believer that you can learn anything and everything from a good book.
anyway, i was reading a bad book, the creation book, and this time things were different.. normally, the mere thought that the wts could "not be right" could not even be contemplated.
it was like you can't even comprehend the concept or understand the question, least of all imagine it.. yet now, i read the book and things were screaming at me from the pages.
Simon & Angharad,
Thanks for sharing and for the effort to put your story in writing. Very interesting. Thanks, too for being so candid....I think many of us can identify with the "wrestling" as it were, trying to figure out if our growing doubts are legitimate.
