  For my own reasons and incidentally that of the lads family I'd rather not go into detail.

  He was definitely a witness who apparently walked out the morning session to take his life on the train track.

  The lad was 19. Suffered from depression.

  Absolutely horrible news and my thoughts are with his family.

  Without trying to sound presumptions in the case of the lad but its about time those in responsible positions in the org seen the link between their extreme teachings and views of the world and clinical depression.

  Its undeniable.

  greetings.. allow me to set the questions up.. after 30 years in the truth (i'm now late 40's) and having established the truth about the truth i consider myself agnostic going on atheist.. i struggle to believe there is a god when i observe life yet i try to convince myself there must be something out there.. here's the basis of my question: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-23583116 .

  in summary, 2 young boys have been killed by a snake that escaped from a pet store in canada.

  it made it's way up through the ventilation into the apartment they were staying in.

  The presence of suffering (particularly that inflicted by 'perfect creation') is one of the majors that had me leaving the religion.

  I've never, ever been able to reconcile these things & I doubt I ever will.

  It all simply doesn't make sense to me.

  I couldn't do what god has done.

  people that they love & care for who don't share their religion deserve to be killed, left without a grave & eaten by wild animals.

  one day, this will happen & they'll be surrounded by billion upon billion of decaying, rotting corpses.

  Just think about the nitty gritty of it:

  People that they love & care for who don't share their religion deserve to be killed, left without a grave & eaten by wild animals. One day, this will happen & they'll be surrounded by billion upon billion of decaying, rotting corpses. Those slain by god will deserve such a death & shall not be mourned. And for what reason? The sin of another person. Passed on through generations.

  Little children deserve to gasp for breath as god 'lovingly' removes their life force. And for what? Sin. They sinned.

  The Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs are utterly insane, cruel, unloving & removed from the wishes & desires of 99% of humanity.

  They're welcome to each other. They're welcome to the depression. They're welcome to their heavy hearts for shunning people. They're welcome to the gossiping & judgemental atmosphere that permeates their group of 'friends'.

  Pretty much, yes.

  On the one hand it gives them something. On the other, I believe it affects people really badly (depression, negative outlook, reducing ones chances in employment).

  I have found ways to cope with the situation.

  well i went to a "special meeting" in the armadillo today where a 2 & 1/2 hour programme was relayed from london at 1pm.

  apparently the letters of invitation only went out a month or so ago and not all congregations were invited.

  there were 2,900 of us from around scotland.

  It's really good that the brothers saw fit to have the conventions from this summer onward in Glasgow. An absolute shithole of a place where no-one wants to live, never mind visit. Pulling every JW in Scotland to the most hostile & 'uncentral' place in the country.

  I guess it just suits the brothers who organise these events.

  i've been a lurker here and an inactive jw for a number of years.

  i've always had some annoying doubts but brushed it aside but over the last few years i've had time to "think" away from the wt.

  perhaps there is no paradise, maybe no god and this life is all there is.

  we became friends with a young couple with 2 small kids.

  they were newly baptized and wanting a better future for their kids.

  It's insanity to reconcile in your mind that babies and children deserve to die at god's behest.

  Once you accept that belief, I believe that your mind is seared, damged. You'll take on the rest of their shit without even thinking much about it.

  Once you strip back the panda leaflets portraying peace and love, they are a hateful bunch of morons who are so entirely self absorbed that they actually believe stuff that would make the average persons head turn 360 degrees on it's axis.

  Some of the most emotive arguments I haved had with my wife have taken place when I get her to consider the wrongness of believing that babies and children, in fact, anyone deserves to die at god's hands. Once, she actually said to me "well, everyone's going to die at some point anyway".

  How do you reply to that?

  One experience I have related on here before is when and elder once told a big group of us that he wants to "see" the people die at Armageddon.

  Mentaly ill fuck ups.
