  What Can't You Stand About Jehovah's Witnesses?

  i'll tell you one thing that just got to me this morning.

  i was playing tennis and at around 9:30 my tennis partner and i looked up and lo and behold!

  2 witnesses were walking up the street.

  Or is it the unhappy, jealous sisters who carve up the sisters in the congregation that are too well-liked, seem too happy, actually live a Christian life........making things up as they go....and the sisters who listen and pass it on. The sisters who tell lies to 2 people who are friends because they are jealous of their friendship.

  I saw this firsthand in our hall. It happened to my own family. The maliciousness of them had to be seen to be believed. They picked on some lovely people and looked for some faults like looking for a pretext to dislike/slander them for their popularity. It was sickening. All in very prominent positions too.

  These ones will never leave the `truth` and quite frankly they deserve it. The ones they pick on may eventually get fed up and go but it saddens me to see good people put up with so much crap and yet stick around because they know nothing else. And it goes on year after year.

  Inactive people, who show up only for the memorial.

  i have a friend who has been inactive as a witness for nearly six years.

  yesterday i mentioned that i had wednesday off and wanted to see if they wanted to get something done wednesday, we had been trying to find time for, for awhile now.

  out of the blue, they said "i can't, the memorial is wednesday.

  But I've since realized that since I no longer accept their authority or their beliefs I have nothing to fear. I walk in as if I've been at every meeting in the last five years and speak to everyone, have some good chats, carry on with some of the guys I knew before. Then I zone out for an hour, wake up in time to pass the wine/crackers and then go to dinner with family/friends. It puzzles the dubs to see me a happy, easy going guy instead of the miserable, guilt-ridden inactive person they expect to see. That's my passive-aggressive campaign against them. Show them that they don't affect me and that I'm happy and enjoying life. It bugs the shit out of 'em.

  Well said mate. Knew a lot like you when I was in and wanted to be one!!

  i was adopted into a jw family in southern california.

  my birth mother gave me up after 6 months (the terms mom & dad refer to my adoptive/real parents).

  she gave me up due to the fact that she already had a three year old boy, and back in the late sixties it was not as socially acceptable to be a single mother.

  Who cares about the memorial?

  i don't.... yesterday, my mother finally asked me if i would consider attending the memorial.

  i just rather chuckled... "no, i don't think so.

  " after a pause, i decided on an additional comment.

  For me going or not going, partaking or not partaking is not about sticking it to the WTS. For me it's the way I believe now. I no longer believe in Christ, Jehovah or the Bible. Why would I go to an event which is all about the ransom sacrifice of Christ?

  You won't find me in any church on Easter Sunday nor is it a holiday that I put up Easter decorations. I simply don't believe any of it nor do I want to appear to.

  this is the very 1st memorial where i am making the stand not to go.at this point family & close friends now know my decision.. i am totally against blood issue/shunning/child abuse policy and i am proud of myself for making the stand not to please others and go through the motions with this corrupt & unloving organisation.

  hopefully this sends out a message to all who think i am still a jw sympathiser.. please post your 1st time experiences........

  I had only two "weak" invitations so I did not compromised, and this certanly it's going to be a stand because I think they are going to see me now like if i had committed the unforgibable sin.

  I agree. Its like 'you`re turning your back on jehovah'.

  New to the forum - want to introduce myself

  hi my name is lillian and i am posting for my first time.

  i was a witness along with my husband and two children for 12 years and gave in my letter of disasociation about a year and a half ago.

  i have struggled with the guilt of bringing my family in contact with the witnesses (i have always been a bible searcher) and i am only coming to terms with this recently.. i now consider myself a born again believer in christ jesus and read my bible daily to check and see what is true.

  Im glad that you seem on the road to recovery along with your family. I relate to your kids being depressed and strung out trying to keep up with the JW lifestyle. I too, never felt close to god and always felt disapproved. The judgemental attitude related to meetings/f.s etc really got to me. - nice people trashed for not 'being zealous'. Terrible.

  Judicial Committee on tape ... one of my favorites

  this is a judicial meeting recording from the mid-80's, where rick and laverne townsend were brought up on charges of apostasy.

  listen to the calm manner in which they refute the elders (especially 607 and 1914) and how the elders get evasive and dodge questions and pretty much bring up nothing biblical.

  I have just listened to half and its brilliant. Those men never were able to deny the 1975 issue effectively. It made me realise how good the internet has been in getting the truth out - references, photos, illustrations etc.

  Please help me. Advice re. children

  i have been out for a few months & have been doing the supportive role for my wife who still goes to most meetings and is taking the lead with our 2 kids.

  the supportive role has cushioned the mental anguish for my wife and i would not have wanted to be frank about my disbelief in god & the wts, it would have put a tremendous strain on our relationship.

  at the moment she is hoping i will come back.
