I have just ben told by my JW wife that my daughter will not be able to get a penny for her very 1st wobbly tooth, presumably because the belief in fairys may be damaging to her. On the other hand, it is ok for 100 adults to discuss in front of my wee 5 year old, matters relating to oral sex in a Sunday morning WT study. ABSOLUTE BASTARDS. THEY HAVE TAKEN AWAY MY WEE GIRLS INNOCENCE.

Indeed. I was told that the devil was after me by a couple of elders and servants. In actual fact, it was them that were the ones that were after me. Bastards.

Do you still love the Bible?
by senoj53 inas a jw i was brought up to believe the bible was the word of god, didn't contradict itself and could answer all our questions.
i loved the bible and took the words of proverbs 2 literally, where it says if you call out for undestanding and search for it you will find the very knowledge of god.
i studied the bible as jw's recomend, but found that it left me with more questions than answers and this eventually led me out of the "truth," as i discovered many contradictions in both the hebrew and the greek scriptures and instances where the apostle paul even contradicts jesus words.. in the most important event of bible history, (the death of jesus) the gospel writers can't even agree on the sequence of events and who he appeared to first after his resurrection.

Welcome! I agree with the basic principles of humanity. Therefore, I feel that the bible is immoral in the way that it asks people to obey laws that are clearly wrong/harmfull. The good laws in that book are outweighed by numerous laws which are degrading to women and children. It is full of narrow minded prejudice. No thanks.

2007- Witness Meetings= Why can't women wear pants/trousers??
by Witness 007 inwhen my mum went to her first meeting she was dressed to perfection, she wore nice ladies dress trouser/pants.
the witness stuying with her told her it was "not apropriate" to wear this to the meeting...in 2006 i was in a congregation where a sister would put a skirt on over her pants she wore to work.
it looked weird, but the pants ban still is in force 2007.

I had a chat with a sister before I left who mentioned that she had a literal fight on her hands before EVERY meeting with her teenage daughter who didn't like to wear a skirt or dress. She seemed quite annoyed about it. I can't imagine that she looked forward to meeting days in her household! All so unnecessary.

Calling all Kilted Brethren
by bigwilly inok, so "the kilted brethren" is a term coolhandluke, breck (lowkey lowsmith) and i came up with on another board, but all fans of unbifurcated garments qualify for membership .

this is me last summer at a brewfest.

I was married in a kilt. Not the type in the opening posters photo. That one looks a wee bit strange. It is indeed the most fetching look. I have worn one since I was married and I can assure you that it brings a lot of (un)wanted attention from the ladies. I had my arse smacked about a dozen times that day!

My District Convention pioneer experiences- I fed my kids from the gutter?
by Witness 007 ini wen't to the district convention 2 years ago, the talk was on "sacrifices," a pioneer couple were interviewed by the c.o.
they had pioneered for many years with two kids, the dad worked part time.
they explianed how money was "tight" for them many times.

I pioneered for a little while and I was always stunned to hear the experiences of others. A couple who had 8 bible studies, an old sister who had lots of energy to pioneer at 85, money dropping through the door at the drop of a hat for car repairs. Our hall was pretty generous to pioneers and I had made the choice to do it so for a while I enjoyed it and didn't mind the material sacrifices. But I had little success with people and remember days of walking around the territory feeling like I was literally wasting my time. The experiences that you heard got you thinking it was only you who didn't really like pioneering. It made you feel unspiritual. Again, such a negative way to look at yourself and your life. It is only now that I look back and wonder what the hell I was doing. I have more than made up for it now with regard to developing my busness and financial security for my family. I am currently pursuing a rewarding voluntary position as well. The rewards of pioneering are very lame in comparison. Thankless, dull, boring.
