Episode 4 of This JW Life is out now......
by dubstepped inspent all day yesterday writing two episodes and recording and editing one podcast of this jw life.
so, episode 4 of my podcast is now out.
i took a minute away from my story (though it is still laced throughout this one) to lay out what goes on inside of a kingdom hall, who the players are, what they believe, and hopefully set a foundation that will help explain my story as one.

I was in a different area at the time but yes, Glen Mcfarlane disbanded a cong then ended up having a mental breakdown because of the related stress.

Raised in Edinburgh and Glasgow congregations.
Lots of funny and interesting JW characters from the 90's & 2000's.
Ian Shanks. The Barr (juice) family. Cute and lovely CO characters ike Les Perkins. The Edinburgh cong that had a white shirt hung up for visiting elders that wore coloured shirts. Dave Algar (DO) and his atttactive wife. The money stealing scandal of an out of town cong in the east. Guys wearing kilts to weddings and being counselled on the full outfit. The elder in the highlands that gave his leaving gift as a public talk around 2003!
So many memories.

It's a very long road for them unshacklethechains.
To have a wife that slowly wakes up is very rewarding in the end no doubt, but believe me when I say, I went through 10 years of my own wife defending the religion and at the end of that we almost lost our otherwise very loving and healthy marriage due to her unswerving loyalty to the cult. If you have much patience with your wife and/or an acceptance that she'll potentially NEVER be completely free from it then you'll be ok. I think generally we just don't want major upheaval for ourselves and our families.
For me, that religion has literally destroyed my life & despite things working out for us just now, there were things that went on in our lives at the bad stages that I deeply regret and mostly blame on the religions influence.
I now realise that my fading has caused (quite rightly) many witnesses to question their own beliefs due to my influence and interchange which I would've hated to have been denied. Had I disassociated I would've forgone that. My long term voice would've been silenced.
Why give them that power? Disempower THEM. Be what you want to be with a freedom of speech that they'd otherwise shut down.
You don't need to be a badge carrying rabid apostate to influence people. You can do so kindly & subtly. I should know. I've done it for 12 years now.
The other option will silence you completely. Disassociation will even shut down your dialogue with family, never mind friends.
You need to think carefully and consider all these factors.
Above all - do what feels right to you. And if you have a faith, know that it'll be respected and valued by those who matter in your friend/family circle. As much as I don't personally have faith, I truly respect those who have it. Not the destructive JW version of faith. But the kind that benefits the individuals who have it and treasure it.
Stay cool my friend! ❤️

Interesting Thing My Little Girl Said Today
by pale.emperor inmy 3yo daughter lives with me 4 days and with her mum 3 days.
i have her tues, wed, fri evening and saturday all day.
which means my ex takes her to sunday and thursday meetings but she doesn't go door knocking on saturday because she's with me.. i dont mind - at the moment - because in a way i want her to know the jw jargon so we can talk about it without having to explain what it is, and i want her to compare the bullshit to the real world.

It's ok at 3 mate. Mine were the same. After years of it though and then my daughter computing that I was 'in the world' she had a complete meltdown aged 7. Telling me Jehovah is going to kill me and my family.
Protect her. Time passes. Information gets retained and the result isn't at all pleasant.
I wrote all about it in a three part story around 7 years ago on here. Have a look.

I'd always go with a gradual fade. Why play by their rules and make things easy for them to implement their hideous shunning rules?
I faded years ago and it makes things easier all round. I quite like the dilemma most of them find themselves in when not knowing how to treat me. It perplexes them also that they have to see me living a fairly good life. They're privvy to stuff about my life that they certainly wouldn't be if they shut down all communication.
Of course, whatever you decide is your choice and your truest of friends will always stick by you regardless. Of that number you'll only ever have a few in life but I've found it's all you need.
Im all for disempowering their stupid rules.

To all extents and purposes I should've been disfellowshipped by now. Even ten years ago when I faded I publicly spoke against JW beliefs. Even barred my kids from the meetings. Goodness knows how they've let me away with it but it's good because I've been able to influence or at least expose active JW's to the stuff they never get to know from other sources. Make them think a little.
