Material such as the film at the end of this years convention confirms that I was right to take my kids out the religion
by jambon1 init’s quite affirming to see the horrific material that they’re serving up at the convention this year.
aside from blatant homophobia, the scenes at the end of the convention that are discussed on another thread stoop to new levels of fear mongering.
it seems to occur to nobody inside the organisation that this kind of material could trigger fear, deprsssion, anxiety, stress.

When attempting to get my kids out of the religion due to exactly stuff like this I was told that the material is harmless. That it doesn’t play on kids minds or foster feelings of fear and confusion. I was told to relax. It was all ok.
Well, it’s gratifying to see some ten years on just how low Watchtower will stoop in the promotion of fear tactics. On top of the bunker videos of 2016 this latest video makes the old inappropriate images in the ‘bible story book’ that I objected to look like playschool.
In recent years I don’t think Watchtower could’ve done any more to justify my decision to fight tooth and nail to get my kids free from it.
So, I’m happy to say a big ‘fuck you’ to anyone who played down their fear mongering and a very happy ‘fuck you’ to a religion which now has no jurisdiction over any of my kids.
To those with kids still in I’d appeal to you to get them out. You can play all this down or believe it’ll not have any effect. It will. Read other forums, Twitter etc. People are experiencing anxiety disorders and other mental health issues because of their repeated adverse childhood experiences being part of this religion.
Get them out while you still can.

My Personal Atheist Manifesto?
by dubstepped inso, i have a guy that is emailing me after listening to my podcast series "this jw life" about my life story before, during, and after being a jw.
this guy happens to be an elder and pioneer serving where the need is greater.
i love this guy.

Absolutely outstanding and coherent reply, Mike.
Well done for taking the time to put all of that together into words. As an atheist, most of it resonates with me.
Im sure if the guy is thinking deeply and honestly then he will take on board at least some of what you say as quite frankly, it’s truthful and evidence based objections. Who can argue with those points if one is searching for evidence based objections to faith in god?

Zeb's Memorial Experience
by HiddlesWife ini just saw zeb's ("i'm worldly") video entitled: "black mass mayhem" a few minutes ago.
no doubt this was what he experienced at a memorial he attended last night.

Absolutely the opposite of what JW’s will respond to.
I’ve no doubt this kind of action gives the perpetrator something cathartic or produces some sense of justice but it’s definitely not going to reach JW’s in a productive way.

Lloyd Evans' New Book - Is It Really Necessary?
by pale.emperor inso lloyd evans will shortly be releasing his new book how to leave the jehovah's witnesses.
i do enjoy his rebuttals and the stuff he manages to get hold of and leak.
but i'm struggling to understand what he could possibly write to merit a whole book.. all info on how to leave is right here on this forum.

I have to laugh at all the controversy and discussion around Lloyd Evans. I’m still trying to work out the motive/thinking but I’m not there yet. I don’t get it.
I personally like Lloyd mainly because he is very, very effective. His incredulity at Watchtower along with his balance of reasonable respect when discussing their beliefs really hits home what is being discussed. Of course, I like him because practically every point he makes resonates with me and his style is right up my street.
I can understand that some people don’t like his style or his general demeanour but I’ll say this - some of the stuff posted about him on Facebook or discussed on podcasts and YouTube is nothing short of shameful. It’s actually libellous and if I were Lloyd I’d be absolutely fucking raging.
Just last week I saw stuff discussed/allegations by some maniac on FB. It was utterly hideous and those wading in were the usual suspects - those with an axe to grind. I noted that the cowards had deleted their untrue and libellous comments the next day.
I heard a popular YouTube couple once say that it was their opinion that Lloyd was ‘working for Watchtower.’ 😂👏🏽😆 This was in the last year. Absolutely unbelievable. The people who say such things just undermine people’s faith in what they talk about regarding Watchtower or indeed anything for that matter. It’s just such a ridiculous assertion to make that I’d question a persons sanity who would suggest it.
Funnily enough, the couple who suggested this have a massive ego and are quite creepy and weird. I’d go as far to describe them as manipulative.
All in all, it’s not good. I’m sure that witnesses on the edge will see stuff like the above and stand, point & say “I told you so.”
More power to Lloyd. His activism is clearly appreciated by those that he helps and I hope he’s around for some time in the future.

Do You Know Any “Gay” Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by minimus inof course the religion condemns homosexuality but did you know any gay witnesses?
i knew some bethelites that were very effeminate and i remember 4 women who were suspected of being lesbians by many in the congregation.
they eventually moved away and were very vocal against males, especially elders..

A prominent CO in Scotland. Late 90’s
You'll never find a more suppressed gay man if you tried.
Complete company man too.
