i have always viewed women as more clever, manipulative, and intelligent than me.
no, i never walked around voicing my bias ... yet, over time, i must confess i have been afraid of the opposite sex.
it has only been in recent times that i have begun to fairly evaluate each individual by their conduct and not their gender.. why do i bring this matter up on this particular site?
Hi Berean,
It has only been in recent times that I have begun to fairly evaluate each individual by their conduct and not their gender.
I think this is the crux of the issue. I like what Satanus said about "mental constructs" - we all carry around these ideas about what "women" and "men" are in very general, platonic terms, but when I attempt to reflect upon all the people I've known in my life, both men and women, without all the generalizations that I've accumulated over the years, the realization I come to is that all people regardless of gender are incredibly varied in personalilty, intellect, ability, tastes, niceness, meanness, whatever. I've been guilty of being really stupidly stereotyping and disrespectful of women in the past, but I'm working hard to correct that now. There's a whole lot I wish I could take back, but c'est la vie.

I'm sorry, but...who takes a video of their kid in this state and puts it up on the internet?
how many atheists are there who don't believe that they came from fish ?.
the outspoken ones that i have come into contact with always seem to (when pressed anyway) advocate such a thing.
many of them surely even put something like it on their car, such as:.
but whether that actually creates new species, I'm not sold.
Speciation has been observed numerous times.
however you define the geographic midwest.
the only do of consequence i had was illingworth.
also f bartell.
Milliken and Bishop are the two I remember.
greetings, lovers of cinema verite:.
i first became aware of this technique when viewing the bourne ultimatum, particularly in a scene where jason and nikki, on the run in some sun-drenched north african coastal city lousy with assassins, are finally sitting still in a stifling, airless apartment, conversing in subdued tones.
actually, they were not sitting still .... i had no idea why the pro with the camera had such a bad case of the shakes.
I saw the Bourne Ultimatum and wasn't bothered by it, that i can remember. What bothered me was that it wasn't a good movie...lol.
In the two years or so following the Blair Witch movie, the shaky camera thing got way out of hand, especially in commercials, where there'd be a shaky-as-hell camera on a person's face, then it would suddenly and for no reason pan hard left, or down to the speakers hands, and then back to the face, go out of focus, then back into focus... Those commercials annoyed me almost as much as the Rx ads of the past few years. I've also recently noticed a lot of lip-synching in commercials where you're not supposed to notice but god it's so obvious, and it eats a piece of my soul every time I see one.
Dan, easily annoyed by goofy advertising trends
dear all,.
i know this has been covered, but my pioneer sister said in a letter to me about what convinces her dubs have the truth,re the worldwide preaching of hope of life on a paradise earth, "who else does that?".
now i know other religions teach a kingdom on earth, but she will say they don't preach that worldwide.. could you give me some ammo.
So, all those who belong to religions that don't teach about the paradise deserve to be slaughtered? Any day now? I don't think JW's spend enough time thinking about just what exactly their religion teaches will come before paradise. It's all an abstraction to them - "Bablylon the Great" and "Wicked People" will be "destroyed", these are euphemistic and vague terms that disguise violent and hateful teachings.
And, the fact of the matter is, very few "worldly" people have any real knowledge of JW teachings, even the most basic ones. JW's, especially their la-la-land ivory-tower leaders who seem to believe that every non-JW the world over is in constant anguish over whether those nice people who came to their door might Really Have the Truthâ„¢, are incredibly self-deluded on this point.
to go along with my trinity thread, i don't believe in hellfire, probably because of my jw upbringing (and common sense).
i have no problem with the idea of an immortal soul or a heavenly hope but the idea of people being tortured forever seems just silly.
so, what is your view of hell?.
It's a good curse word...weaker than s__t and f__k, so good for situations where a mild expletive is called for. I particularly enjoy using the phrase "hell's bells" to express frustration over some unanticipated setback or obstacle. LOL
i found this story rather interesting.
while i don't believe the team should forfeit, i did think there was an appalling lack of class and sportsmanship displayed by the winning team:.

You're not alone keyzer...what were they thinking piling it on like that? Very poor sportsmanship.
you know what's really neat?
"seeing" people on here transform themselves over the years, healing from misbelief, gaining confidence in themselves, becoming strong enough to face the truth, educating themselves about logic, triumphing over toxic influences in their lives, etc.
there are some people here who have grown so much.
This new forum takes you back to your oldest posts by default when you click on your post history. I read a few of my JWD posts back from 2002, ugh. Pretty cringe-worthy. lol.
