first off, i want to give prop's to "dantheman"......that post inspired me to share my experience, and thanks to everyone that responded to my first post under "desperately seeking"....that was a nice welcome.
this might ramble ..... i was born and bred into the borg....my dad was/is an elder, i had a big family, two older sisters, three younger bro's....i was baptized at 15 (i'm 25 now) and tried to pioneer...give talks...have repsonsibilities...but the wrong feeling that had been welling up in my stomach and kept getting stronger as time went on.. when i moved away from my hometown at 17, my life really started to change.....i met an awesome girl (another jw)....and we fell in love pretty quickly...and i also left home and got my own apt.
(much to my fathers sadness).
Hey, glad I inspired ya. I actually left a lot out of my story, I could have written a WHOLE lot more. As much as I wish I could just leave the whole WT experience behind me, I agree with you that we ex-hovers need to work it out. Thank the good Lord for the internet.

posting on wtlies thread i got to thinking about the shows i watched as a kid.
there were a couple that scared the &*^% out of me.
the old twilight zone where the little demon guy was on the airplane wing was really scary.
I remember seeing some parts of The Shining when I was a kid. It affected me pretty bad, I was a very sensitive and impressionable kid.
we had a whole list of shows we were not allowed to watch including 'speed racer', you'll never guess why.
it was beacuse in the theme song it says "he's a demon on wheels" but then my mother was a jw fanatic lol.

My Catholic parents wouldn't let us watch Three's Company. Too risque. Also, we had to beg and beg and BEG my mom to take us to see Star Wars (I was about 7 or so when it came out). The Catholic Times gave it a negative review and said that it didn't line up with Catholic values. My mom was a serious Catholic, she did whatever they told her to.
But, we ate Lucky Charms to our heart's content...lol
Do you remember Nicco Wafers? One time my mom caught me and my sister playing "Communion" with them. She was not happy with this, to say the least! I think we got sent to our rooms for a while.
wollersheim v. the church of scientology was a 22 year court case, finally settled in may of 2002 with the payment of $8.6 million by the church of scientology.
it raises interesting issues of freedom of religion, and how responsible cults must be for the results of their actions.
case history summary.. in 1980, lawrence wollersheim filed suit against the church of scientology of california (csc), claiming damages for intentional and negligent infliction of severe emotional distress.
We can ask, are not the Watchtower's coercive practices similarly damaging to society, and do not they too rob the victim of his/her freedom of religion?
Ask away bro. The constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion has all too often been used as a license to do whatever by religious mafias like Scientology and the WT. Yay to the California jury who sided with the plaintiff.

You aren't the only one who has had their JW experience printed in the Awake, only to realize the truth about the truth later on -
now that you know about the truth of the blood doctrine, would you feel, even a little bit uncomfortable agreeing to take a blood transfusion?
btw, my mother asked me if i would still honor her wishes for refusal of blood.
i told her that even though my view has changed, i would respect her decision, even if i felt that it was wrong.
When I became JW, I just accepted the blood issue as part of the JW package. I was very naive at the time, I didn't know that many JWs have died over the issue. Chapter 9 of ISOCF shows how patently ridiculous it all is.
However, I am glad that there are many alternatives to blood transfusions, and I hope that someday there will no longer be any need at all for them, as they are risky. If I ever had to go in for major surgery I would *strongly* admonish the surgeon to do his best to prevent the need for a transfusion.

Welcome to the board, I'm from midwest (Ohio) also.
You can do a couple of things to cover your tracks. I'm not an expert on this, as I don't need to be, but one thing you can do is, instead of typing a web address in the address bar, click FILE, OPEN, then type the address. Also, after you're done you can click on the HISTORY icon, right click and delete any websites that you don't want them to see that you visited. Maybe you know all this, though. Take care, visit often, and, oh yes, JWs are a cult!!
