The fine art of refusing a Shepherding Call
by Open mind ini'm pretty sure the forseeable future will include numerous attempts to "shepherd" my family.
my elder status is either already gone or soon to be gone.. .
does anyone know of specific rules when it comes to refusing a shepherding call?

I also said "no". The PO approached me at a meeting and asked if I would like him to visit along with the CO. It took me by surprise and I just said straight out "no". He accepted that and the visit didn't happen.
Another approach is to accept the offer of a shepherding call but when suggestions are made for a time, say you have a prior appointment or you'll be working or just not home at that time. Or make an appointment and then cancel the day before, saying something has come up.
All that does is stall though. They will catch up with you eventually. Especially open mind, because you are an elder.

When I was a JW, I didn't even get a ticket in the sweep. Didn't buy raffle tickets for charity either. I felt pretty stupid about it though.

I was asked at work to run the sweep for the Melbourne Cup (we don't get a public holiday in SA but not much work gets done on the day). I had to laugh inside - if only they knew. A quick check on the internet to see how it's done and I was like a pro.

In the 8 weeks i self destructed not ONCE did ANYBODY go "hey man, are you ok?
It's such a controlling religion that when you step away from the mould, they just don't know what to say to you. Or they are scared that they are supporting someone who is no longer "good association."
It's bullying really - social isolation.
